"An apology is good."

April 9, 2013

I can't spell Entschuldigung correctly.

Schuld is the root word, it means guilt/blame/fault. Schuldig means guilty. Ent- is a prefix that means something like un-. (Entdecken means uncover/discover, die Decke is blanket.) -ung makes adjectives into nouns.

So it could be literally translated as "unblaming" :)

It is all right if you know how to apologise. There the tone will be important, not the spelling.

Does anyone else think this is a strange sentence? When would you use it?

May 12, 2013

so strange, I have no idea><

Discussing some public figure's transgressions -- we'd say "Yeah, well, at least he apologized".

July 15, 2013

Well, if you really want to make peace with him, "an apology is (would be) good";

Why is it not "einen"?

June 8, 2013

It is nominative feminine.

y eine not ein?? i am confused between ein and eine

September 1, 2013

It's eine because it is feminine. You can tell it's feminine because of the 'ung' ending. It would be "ein" if it was masculine or neuter.
