English for Korean speakers is now in beta!
We're excited to let you know that English for Korean speakers is now in beta today! Thank you to everyone that contributed to this course and to the Duolingo team.
As with any course that enters beta, please report any errors or missing translations you find. By doing that you're improving the course for future learners. Thank you!
Hopefully Korean for English speakers starts development soon since it is being developed internally.:)
I hope so too, but I after going through the first couple of lessons I noticed they had very few alternate translations (very important because of all the different levels of formality). I get the impression it will be a very long time before the English course is polished enough for them to move on to the Korean course for English speakers.
I know! :D I was so impatient for this to come out, but now I wish they did a liiiittle bit more editing before the release. That being said, I'm sure they will look at our suggestions and in a couple of weeks the course will have most of the common alternative responses.
Congratulations on the new beta course! It is awesome to see Duolingo grow nearly every week. You guys keep up the great work; it has definitely helped me greatly.
Wow! Can't wait until Duolingo launches Korean for English speakers (or Spanish speakers haha) :D
I am soooo excited to hear this! Korean is next on my list and I can't wait. I'm not brave enough to tackle English for Korean speakers, I don't think. Well, maybe I'll just take a peek.... Thank you thank you thank you!!!
I waited for the beta for a long time and really appreciate for the hard work! I just started the beta and will spread the word to my Korean friends to use the app for learning English.
Yep, definitely in beta. I wrote English as I would speak and it listed me as incorrect!
ㅋㅋㅋ Wow... I am impressed with your Korean considering you are a foreigner! Are you an English teacher in Korea? (Sorry if you are offended... The only foreign people that I know in Korea are foreign teachers and military personnel!)
Thanks, but I still make lots of mistakes :) Not an English teacher. I am a graduate student at a university here in Korea.
Wow! Seems a lot of students are coming to Korea to study! The other day, there was a foreigner from I think the US or Europe competing in Running Man... At this pace, Korean will become an important language in the future (Maybe it might earn AP course status)!
Just a query though, some beta courses seem to have immersion activated and others don't. The dictionaries for those languages still don't exist?
If so, I think it would still be beneficial to have them activated as L1 speakers can help L2 speakers with the words they don't know, and so on. Although it may still be a risky proposition.
I am using it to learn korean as an english speaker. Beat level one although it wasnt easy lol especially since everything is in korean and this is my first time using duolingo.
I think that making a Korean course for English will be nice. I'm so happy a lot of people are now interested in my homeland!
축하합니다! I'll be using this to test my Korean while I wait for Korean for English speakers~ \^-^/ 감사합니다~
Now please add Swedish and Esperanto to the incubator. The winners of the recent poll!
At your right top there, hover your mouse to the flag icon will drop down the link.
Press Add a new course.
You will get into the Duolingo Language Courses selection.
And then you select KOREAN from "I speak:" drop menu.
At last Press Switch to course.
Thanks a lot.... I found the way to add. Your almost real-time reply is surprising.... Thanks again..
That is wonderful to learn how to speak Korean!!! I wish that there are more langauge to speak, which is very wonderful to learn new culture and to meet new people. I would like learn how to speak Taglog because I have relatives living in the Philippines. But maybe someday, keep up the good work!!!
I've been quite giddy over this for the past few days. Thank you so much for including Korean, Duolingo! I'll be using the course to practice my Korean skills while I wait for the Korean course for English speakers. :)
After beta finishes(which is soon!), then what then? Will I be able to learn it? Or will there be another process?
Sorry to be dim, but what does that mean exactly. I am using duolingo to help improve my Spanish, I know of a young Korean girl who is studying English but keeps missing the mark and wondered if duolingo could help her.
My friends have started the course, while I can't. It still says in phase one. I have tried on my laptop and the app.
