I give up!

I had made a lot of progress in French - enough that starting over at the beginning of level zero on every lesson is a total waste of my time. It would be ages before I could get back to the point that I'd be learning anything. I'm leaving. Let me know when you put back the progress indicators. I know you can - earlier today, you did go back for a very short time. I really liked Duo, but goodbye for now.

If you learned something, it doesn't even matter if they were reset. You can still scroll down and continue where you left off. It's not like you have to re-do all of the skills to get back to where you used to be. But a lot of the old lessons are great now, I've been doing them all day.

Quote: You can still scroll down and continue where you left off

Only if you have been previously on the staff tree8 (119 skills).

If you were on the contributor tree3:
26+ dedicated "grammar skill" names have been removed/renamed and lexemes/sentences has been spread across NEW vocabulary / theme skill names.

This basically means that you cannot simply continue where you have left off with tree3!

I must admit I always found those old grammar skills difficult, like puzzles that need to be deciphered. Having worked through the new tree, I like the new approach of teaching grammar in context better.

For example, it was a great idea to teach 'celui' in the new Shopping 2 section. "Tu préfères celui‑ci ou celui‑là ?" "Do you prefer this one or that one?"

I understood it instantly, without feeling like I'm learning grammar at all.

How can we restart where we left out when the entire thing has changed. They completely took away where I was left. It's completely discouraging.

Agree EmperorAntonio

Thank you!

How can you scroll down to where you left off when you cannot see connections between the old tree and the new? I found one lesson that was more advanced than I was, but the previous lesson was very easy.

I was just starting to fill in from the last update- now there appears to be another.

I love your username. On Hogan's Heroes, "Papa Bear" was Hogan's code name. On some programs he was "Goldilocks". Headquarters was "mama bear".

Well, have fun with your French course.

I don't have the new French tree. It sounds very exciting.

Someone once told me it's not about where you are it about were you want to be. Don't give because of a silly error, at least you have something that you've learned so far. Don't give up and plus you might even learn from some of the mistakes you have done earlier to.

If you measure your progress by the number of skills you have completed then have you also lost the knowledge from your brain?

March 28, 2019

No. But if you want to continue to learn, it helps to know where the skills you have not completed are.

March 30, 2019

I agree. I am going to check out alternatives.
