it's only diction.. like in books in elementary education or poem, etc. for conversation, just use "dimana"..
ex : dimana kamu tinggal? (formal) /
kamu tinggal dimana? (informal).

The suffix -kah is used to make an interrogative sentence. This is optional. We usually find it in lyrics or poems. In conversation, we can omit it.

Thus, there is actually no big difference between di mana and di manakah.
