Club Activity page is blank since most recent Android update

Ever since the most recent Android update of the Duolingo mobile app, I can no longer reach my Club Activity page: it is now just a blank, white page (aside from the Leaderboard link, which I can still access). Uninstalling and re-installing the Duolingo app restores the page temporarily, but only for that active session.  As soon as I either close the app, or leave it open (but inactive) for a few minutes, the Club Activity page goes blank again. This holds true across all seven languages I am studying. 

As near as I can tell, this issue appears to have originated with the March 27, 2019 Android update (version 4.9.2).  I know I'm not the only one affected, because I have seen several complaints about this on the Google Play Store Duolingo app page, in the form of one-star reviews of the app itself.  This tells us this is a legitimate and widespread issue, despite the fact that I've only seen a couple of other posts mentioning it in the Troubleshooting forum.

I am running Android on a Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 tablet.  I have submitted a technical error/bug report to Duolingo, but I was told in the confirmation email that I might not receive a personal reply.  Surely uninstalling and re-installing the app several times a day is not the best fix. Any replies from DL technical staff - or advice from other DL members who have found a solution or a workaround - would be most welcome. Thank you!

EDIT: I have not lost or been kicked out of my clubs; the Leaderboards I'm seeing are definitely my active club boards, not the new League boards many people seem to be getting. I still get notifications from each of my clubs. The main page just isn't visible.

UPDATE: New April 2, 2019 update (version 4.10.2) works! It kicked in for me this AM. For those with Android tablets whose auto-update has not kicked in yet, here is the link to the newest update (this may or may not work for Android phones, IDK):

Yes I also observed this with latest update on Android. I'm using Nokia 7 plus. After doing clear data for the app I logged in again, then I can see club page with posts. Whenever I quit the app and open again, I see blank page on club chat. Also, if I switch to another language course, I see this issue on other club pages too

I have the same issue. I deleted the app and reinstalled but the club page soon become blank as I closed the app or changed course. After a fresh login the club page shows again.

Edit: tonight it was necessary to clear the app data to see the club page again. Settings->Apps->Duolingo->Storage

Yes, I use this workaround as well. At the moment, clearing cache and data before opening the app is the only thing that works for me. Having to login every time is a bit annoying though.

It seems many more people have this issue than I'd previously thought. I just hope the Duolingo team are aware of it! They know about the League Leaderboard issue, in which people are being removed from their clubs (without their consent!), and their clubs replaced with a League Leaderboard, but It's unclear (at least to me) whether this is entirely a bug, or an A/B test group issue. When I opened DuoLingo earlier this week, I got a screen that said 'this version is no longer supported', and was taken to app store to update. It was after the update that the problem began. But, will it let you use an older version, or will you get an 'unsupported' message?

Your language level 25 (SP from DE) and tree progress as well as crown progress is stored on the server side.

When you resync the mobile app, it will download all progress from the server.

However, please make sure that you do not have any OFFLINE lessons stored locally which you have not yet submitted to the server.

AFAIK staff has recently REMOVED a lot of informations (XP, language levels 1-25, golden owl, etc.) on the mobile apps.

Since yesterday I'm experiencing the problem too. Quite annoying: I was in many clubs, but most of them were very inactive. Finally I found several clubs very active, which is highly motivating to me. I definitely do NOT want to participate in Leaderboards. I'm studying languages to actually be able to use them, I'm not racing through XP in order to win a 'formula I-race' every week, going rapidly, but not really learning the foreign language. Might be very joyful to others, but not to me. What's wrong with letting the learners (app users) choose what modalities they think are useful for their personal route towards mastering a foreign language? @Vreni: The Russian recipe was very tasteful; I just wish I could have posted that in the club.

Why is this problem happening??? Are they working on it? I really want to apply my newly learned skills to a club too. I am on a galaxy j7 perx and my family members (who also have duolingo) do not have the problem as they have the version with leagues. Plz, I think all of us would like answers.

I just had the same problem, with a black white page.

For me, it reset if I just exited the app and then closed it from the task list as well. This is better than deleting the data because you don't have to log in again.

I have the same problem. I updated my Android phone and all the club activity has gone bank. I still was getting messages on my Android phone and unable to respond or look at the club page. I am turning off my messages and I will delete all my clubs if this is not fixed. I will not use use earlier Duolingo version, as it is up to Duolingo programmers to fix the bug with the new Android update.

Hi,

if the club page is blank on Android, make sure that you also update the "Google Play games" app:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.play.games

AFAIK both depend on each other.

When I had a problem once (not now; I am not using the very recent versions) that the club page did not sync correctly, updating the other solved my problem once (older Duolingo version).

Please try if this is also working for you.

Last update in the Google store for the "Google Play games" app is 01 April 2019.

If this doesn't solve your problem, it is related to the Duolingo mobile app alone and you need to wait until the developers fix your troubleshooting ticket.

Will need to retest with my older versions V3.72.2 / V3.80.2 on my side how the Duolingo app and clubs do behave currently ;)

Warning: Those older versions do not support the newer "mobile grammar notes" for the apps nor do they have the "Duolingo Plus" button to download ALL lessons for OFFLINE usage (this was introduced as a new feature in newer Android app versions).

I need to try to boot up my KOPlayer Android emulator for a retest but recently it crashes from time to time on my older Laptop so I have to take 2-3+ runs and reboots to get this mission accomplished....could take a while ;)

I reported the same problem. It doesn't matter which device I use, or which languages I'm on. I get my notifications, I just can't see the Clubs, only the Leaderboards. I am Admin on German for Morons and can't even see and congratulate the weekly winner. So sad. BTW, I tried to give you a lingot and it won't let me. I just get a message saying, "Do you really want to do that?".

I looked as well, still same version, still same dates. I went back to the old version and have updates turned off, so I always look first at what I'm downloading. It's still 4.9.2. Which was the version I had issues with.
