New app: word game in Welsh (among others)

For people who like to play word games on their phones, there is a new app, which supports smaller languages, also Welsh!

The name of the app is Word Tango, by a Dutch company Smiling Cube Studio's. One can play in English, Welsh, Danish, Faroese, Frisian, Icelandic, Cornish and Dutch.

It has already been online for several months, but since the beginning of this month it added another cool feature: when you play in Welsh or Cornish the app will show you the English translations! When you play in Frisian, it will show the translations in Dutch.

I like it a lot, and I think it is a great way to learn new vocabulary :-)

Hmm. A good concept, but... Very intrusive ads. Some very obscure old words no longer used. Digraph letters not included, so many spellings are incorrect. Some incorrect translations.

Okay, that's too bad... I noticed the intrusive adds, but I would turn off the sound when playing this game and skip them after 5 seconds. I just tolerated them.

But learning obscure old words isn't very helpful and learning incorrect translations is even worse. Guess I'll remove the app now.

Thanks ibisc. Mind you my phone is an old Nokia dinosaur!!! So can't do it. I'll stick to DuoLingo, Sadwrn Siard and the Welsh cafe in Roath I think - also some of my Welsh speaking friends - even if they are Gogs and I live in Cardiff!!!

DuoLingo is SO much help.

I have "Campau Cosmig" and "Campau Cosmig2" + "Verb Blitz Welsh" on my Android phone (all 3 are free).
