"Digger" in English could refer to a person who digs, but nowadays it's more likely to mean a big yellow excavating machine. A more clear translation would be "They are looking for someone to dig."

Why is "seorang" necessary?

From the English version of the sentence, is not clear from the context whether they are looking for a human digger or a machine, therefore seorang, sebuah or even without a classifier should be accepted
