Supposed to be "saya mengingat kamu" right?

This sentence seems clumsy. Would an Indonesian person ever actually say this? I freel like something along the lines of "Kamu teringat" (you are remembered) would be more likely.

What is the difference between this sentence as opposed to one with "mengingat" or "ingat" instead of "teringat"?
