Fix that bug please!

There are some skills in my Spanish from English course which have gone down to 50%, lots of them down to 75%, and whatever I do I cannot get them back to 100%! It's so demotivating ...

I have many skills (around 100 now !) down to 50% - 75% on my spanish from English tree, and like you YarkoRab, no matter how much I practice they will not return to 100%. (I have the chrome user script extension)

It saddens me that I can't really tell anymore what I need to study so, I use the practice button for now. I can't spend all of my time chasing down the one word in introduction just to make it 100%, so I don't.

Thomas, has this issue been reported? Is it something that needs to be reported?

Hi Yarko,

maybe the bug is related to the L5 crown thing.

I see you have two L1 verb skills:

  • Verbs: Conditional Perfect @ 75%
  • Verbs: Past Imperfect @ 75%

How many DEAD words do you have in those skills at 25-75%?

Maybe you do not get the "right sentences" to practice the dead (0.0... very low strength) words.

As more and more people complain I think there is a new strength (words decay) bug in the backend and that the practice algorithm fails in selecting those relevant words.

I had to practice one single Non-L5 skill 24+ times to get my DEAD words down.
And the one day it still stuck at ~4-6 words and I had to wait another day.

One way or another it is simply infuriating. I cannot go past 50% with the skills like Travel 2, People 3, some simple stuff. I don't intend to do 24 repetitions of some easy skill to get the right result. The blame is on Duo for not fixing that bug. Thanks for your reply! My regards.

Any one found the way to practice the dead words? Having done Spanish - People more times that I like to think, I know at least so of the words that I'm not being presented with (Espana and china for example).

Had originally wondered if it was the new Spanish tree (which I don't have yet) but seems they've added skills rather than words to existing ones which doesn't fit with my theory. Also seems to affect families of skills - most of my People ones seem to be afflicted. So for the moment I've given up trying to strengthen my Spanish, at some point I'll get the new tree

I don't even know what you're talking about. I don't show percentages anywhere. Is this an A/B test thing, or an app? (I only use the web version).

If you are using Chrome browser you can download an add-on Duo Strength, which shows you your strength. Very useful.
