1000 Days of Duolingo!
I have officially reached 1000 days of Duolingo! I've made a lot of progress in that time in studying new languages from scratch and reviewing languages I studied in high school and college. Looking forward to seeing how much more I can learn in the next 1000 days!
Congratulations on your third Duolingo anniversary! My third is coming up soon too. Nice streak and array of flags. How many of those had you studied some before Duolingo?
Holy Jesus you have practised a lot This is my first week of Duolingo and I love it!
yeah, seems like a hard challenge, 1000 days. started 15 days ago and it was even hard for me to do the 15 days in a row lol
I have had an interest in learning German for a little while, now I am on Duo :)
Wow! You are only 128 days away from 2000! And you have reached level 25 in 6 languages! I admire your dedication!
And same to you, Mary W. 1025 days is a wonderful accomplishment. Felicidades a ti también!
Ok, this is kinda off topic but how did you get that little duo owl Emoji/Gif?
Duolingo uses Markdown formatting
So to insert an image, the code is like this:

The URL to the GIF is https://i.imgur.com/9HWnTxi.gif (I found this out by right-clicking on the image and choosing "Inspect", which brings up the HTML source code)
So the code is

Edit: Once you've got the basics from Hyllning's guide, there is another guide from daKanga. If that's not enough, there's always the "Related Posts" sidebar and the forum search engine.
He is SO CUTE
awwww ... thank you. I just wanted an owl small enough to post with my comments.
That's a wonderful milestone to accomplish! Congratulations, have a few lingots, and hearty best wishes for your next 1000!
No my lingots haven't been used up. The more you do on Duolingo, the more you earn - which starts to add up after awhile.
What's going on Songve? Lately anytime I see you comment on a thread anywhere on this forum, you're like a little dark cloud of negativity and snarky pessimism. Don't you think we've already got enough BS to deal with in our everyday lives without you coming in with your daily dose of bleakness for no justifiable reason?
Hi, how it works is if you keep a streak you get a lingot for every 10 days divided by 10. So if you have 10 days you get 1 lingot, 20 days you get 2 lingots and now possess 3 lingots, 30 days you get 3 lingots and now posess 6 lingots, etc. By 100 days you're getting at least 10 lingots every 10 days. By 200 days, you're getting 20 lingots every 10 days. I have 12054 lingots and mostly just give them away in the discussion forum. I get over 140 lingots every 10 days and it will be going to 150 every 10 days in 27 days. So, try a streak and you'll stat getting lingots and very quickly you will have too many to ever spend. You get them faster for completing new circles.
Sorry if i'm being greedy but can i have 6 lingots
thank you sooooooooo much!
Wow! 1000 days is an impressive streak! Congratulations and to many more days! :)
congratulations! It takes a lot of love for languages to keep in touch with them for such a long time. Keep going!
Very impressive accomplishment! I've never even reached a week on here and I've had my account for almost 3 years :T It's good to see someone with enough dedication to go on here everyday for 1000 days, almost 3 years! Good job, my dude. Everybody give them a round of applause.
Wow!! Congrats on your goal and good luck on future ones!! ~KD

Wow congrats, best wishes for you.
Underneath your comment, where you see "give lingot", click and a window comes up and asks you if you really want to give a lingot. Press yes and your Lingot is given. :)
Congratulations on your 1000 days, are you fluent in one of the languages you learning?
I studied French in high school, and I studied Mandarin and Japanese in college. I've been casually practicing/reviewing those languages on Duolingo a little here and there.
My main focus for my first 1000 days of Duolingo has been studying Danish starting from a very low level. I feel like my reading comprehension has gotten very good, but although I've been supplementing my studies here with other ways to practice skills like listening, it's not to the same level yet.
Wow! Congratulations! That's an amazing achievement. And looking through some of the comments you've received there are some incredible totals! I'm inspired to grow my "83" days!
Congratulations. I am working towards that same goal. 1000 days, not so many languages ;) I would be right behind you, but I lost 69 days early on when I lost the internet for a couple of days :D
Grattis på din tredje årsdag!! (Congratulations on your third anniversary in Swedish :)
One of the awesome things about learning Danish is that I can understand some Norwegian and Swedish :)
how do you people keep a streak for years? ;-; I can only do a week straight thIn i forget on the weekends
Great job! It's my first day, I can't wait to get started. However, I did come here from the memes...
How did u do it?I'm so busy that my highest streak is just two days.I rarely get to do Duolingo. Also why are u learning Danish?
Your consistency is to die 4. QUERY: how fluent are yuu in this languages after 3 years??
That is amazing! That must have took dedication. Are you fluent in any of the languages you are learning?
Congratulations! 1000 days is truly impressive, I hope I get there too someday. Best of luck to you on your language journey, I really admire your dedication.
All the people here with 1000+ streak, thank you for inspiring the rest of us.
One huge advantage of Duo is that it's easy to keep up a streak even if just amounts to 15-20 minutes a day. I went crazy the first few days with 4-5 hours each, but obviously couldn't keep it up for long. Now I'm just getting the practice in when I can manage and it seems to work.
congratulations, however 1000 days and still not converse, not at all encouraging to a beginner
Kind of funny to see so many lingots being given. You probably have a billion by now.
Listen here, you don't have a streak, so why would you talk down on someone?
What do you mean? To learn languages, of course. Isn't that why we are all here?

JOHNC145000, I would like to see you do better. I bet you don't even know what "¿Por qué hiciste eso?" means in Spanish without looking up google translate.
