Songs in Japanese?

Songs in Japan are normally 4minutes long while in America its normally 2minutes. Why?

But speaking seriously, I don't think 2 minutes is accurate. According to a random source on the internet, modern top charting pop songs in America tend to average around 3.5 to 4 minutes in length.

"The average Number One hit in the US, across all eras, is 3.8 minutes long. Back in the ‘60s, they were closer to 2 minutes; in the late ‘80s, Number One lengths were nearing 5 minutes. Since 2009 length of #1 singles has been gradually reducing and it is now below average, at around 3.5 minutes."

Well i guess i just listen to a lot of 2 minute songs! Every song on my Japanese playlist is 4minutes+, and every song on my English playlist is 2minutes+. I guess its just my luck! XD

Maybe you listen to a lot of music from the 80s. They made good music back then.

EDIT: Wait ... nevermind, the songs were even longer in the 80s.
