Odd behaviour on streak freeze/loss notification

I understand the story of “I’m sure I had a streak freeze equipped but now I’ve lost my streak” is pretty common, so I’ll keep that part brief. I use the Android app, and checking on the browser version confirms I’d only missed my goal yesterday in the past week. I was under the impression that shortly after midnight I opened the app to purchase a replacement streak freeze and didn’t notice anything unusual, though of course these tales usually come down to misremembering things, as the FAQ suggests. I do not currently have a freeze equipped.

I was prepared to accept I’d most likely just made a mistake when I realised the app had pushed a notification today, long after midnight: “Streak freeze used up! Meet your daily goal to extend your 0 day streak.”. it seems something’s guaranteed to be off here: if a streak freeze activated, it should’ve preserved my original streak, and since I was active the rest of the week the streak couldn’t have been 0 already.

In the past I've seen the streak number dip to 0 upon freeze usage, but it was just a temporary thing that fixed quickly and had no effect.

While I’ll still claim the usual “I’m sure I shouldn’t have lost my streak” and would be happy to be vindicated, this seems to be unintended/buggy behaviour that’s actually worth flagging up whether or not I made a mistake.

Duolingo keeps 'not responding' in normal usage. No other programme is misbehaving. I've reached 'People' and have a current streak of 44 after my first streak of 42, so I'm not a new boy. Any idea what I can do? Microsoft isn't too happy about the site's certificate, but I trust it anyway.

The same happened to me today. I always have my streak freeze equipped. I skipped the lesson today and it killed my streak of +540 days and now I am back at 0. Did you find a solution?

My "solution" was to activate the free premium trial and make use of the automatic streak repair it was shoving at me. Obviously, that's something that only works once, and only if you've not used the trial already.

This just happened to me as well. Extremely frustrating. I even took a printscreen yesterday when I reached 60 days streak (not that much, but still a milestone).
