For a while, Arabic for English speakers has not made any progress. It will probably not be released on May 1st, 2019. However, Latin has made a lot of progress, and although it shows as if it has lost progress, it has actually made more progress. The contributors have added more words.

Duo is a huge disappointment when it comes to lack of progress in Arabic course.

I'm not interested in learning Arabic but I agree tbh.

same. Arabic probably isn't on my to learn list but it is sad it's moving so slowly. I really wish they'd get it out for you guys

yeah I have pretty much no faith that Arabic is going to be done on May 1. we'd be lucky to see it completed by the end of the summer early fall.

Flumen91 how do you know? is there any other posts about it. The bar doesn't look like it's moved this week but it would be great if they were just adding more vocab

I had a talk with a contributor one day, and that is what he/she told me. :)

Yeah. I'd also like to know. Though, I've recently discovered that the Latin language has from 100k to 200k words in its entire vocab. I don't know about Arabic or Creole, etc. I do know, though, that the English language has a million words in its vocab. I really wish I could know what it's like to contribute and the work process behind it, but I sadly wait for Latin so that I can learn it for free.

I love the steady progress from the team of Swedish from Spanish !! :)

Seems like they completely abandoned Arabic and Yiddish. What a shame.

I'm sure Arabic will get finished before Yiddish does since it has high demand.

It's really up to the volunteers developing the courses, isn't it?

I checked Arabic in the incubator just now and they added a new contributor after one or two of them left. No guarantee we will see progress after one week though.

This "update" is always so negative, so thanks andypingu, for a positive moment.

Clap clap clap clap

Don't worry! Latin is just taking a breather!

I think that more content was added to the plan for the Latin course, so that is why its progress appeared to reduce.

i hope we get finnish contributors soon! and i think Latin and Creole will be completed and in beta before Arabic will.

Creole has had no progress for a long time or years, it's unlikely it will come out by May 1 and it will be a long time before it enters beta.

Looked Monday PM (US Central Time zone) and there are now four contributors listed for Finnish. This morning (Monday AM) there were not any contributors listed yet.

well as hard as it is to accept and maybe not really fair, Latin is a much easier language than Arabic so yes it probably won't take as long to get out. For your guys' sake though I do hope Arabic starts moving again... Really excited about Latin here though :D :D :D

So will Lithuanian!!

Yes!

Disappointed by the lack of progress. Still no contributors for Finnish. The English courses for Bengali and Tamil speakers have stalled even though the Bengali version is to come out in May 1.

There are now four contributors listed for Finnish (as of Monday PM - central time zone - US).

I saw that today too. Hopefully we'll see progress in the coming weeks.

The Los SuecaƱoles team is really impressive.

Not sure why we need this summary. It's all there under the incubator anyway and it only seems to encourage more dissatisfaction.

Hi Linda7Italian,

It's all there under the incubator anyway

No. Not at all.
Have a look to the text of the WIS (and a look to the text of the linked first WIS). The fact that they are not the same is reminded every week in each WIS, which gives every week a link to a detailed explanation.
Or, actually, have a look "under the incubator": one sees immediately that they are not the same. Just two examples: SV<-TR status page says it's half way (it says "52.6%" to be precise), DE<-zh_CH status page says it's half way (it says "49.0%" to be precise).

Thank you for telling me about that! I discovered that when you right click the progress bar and then click "Inspect Element", you can see an exact percentage.

I think a lot of people (well, at least me..) enjoy reading it without commenting. It is interesting following what is happening with the courses and you only see one language at a time in the incubator, so it would be quite time-consuming to browse around in order to get the same information.
