I've been learning the simplified version so long but I'd really rather be learning the traditional. The news I've read about traditional was 2 years ago saying it would be implemented but nothing yet and I keep facing issues with the chrome extensions when using a computer. It works but rather slow and buggy and I'd much rather use the app.
Any update on when and if traditional Chinese will be implemented?
Agreed, I would like to have traditional Chinese as an option too. For this reason, I also learn Chinese on Hello Chinese and Chinese Skill. Another thing that I would like to see on this app is that they show the pinyin on the word, it would be of great help to make sure the learners remember the pinyin.
Traditional would definitely be nice since I'm trying to study in Taiwan. What is hello Chinese and chinese skill like? Should I give them a try? I've been learning both the simplified and traditional characters in the time being but I've only learned a few characters so far, I can somewhat imagine this being confusing in the future.
I think distinguishing between simplified and traditional characters is not that hard. Most of the time its just one radical thats simplified like 马／馬. Then its all the same for every character that has the horse radical and so on. I also hope that I can do an exchange semester in Taiwan. It is not sure yet sadly.
Sounds great. I hope you get to. I'm awaiting results from a scholarship that gets announced next month.
Thanks. I tried HelloChinese and ChineseSkill. I like HelloChinese more. I think it explains the grammar better and also has some podcasts for listening practice. Also my chinese friend told me, that the podcasts on ChineseSkill are not very usefull, they are like very poetic and not like everyday conversations. I hope you can go to Taiwan too.
Yeah, traditional characters would be nice as an extra course. But i'm actually happy they don't include pinyin, because it forces me to focus on the characters.
Yes I agree. If you have the pinyin along with the characters all the time, you don't learn to read the characters. Instead you always read the pinyin and that's not good.
