Please Keep The Clubs!
Hi! I would like Duolingo to keep the club feature. I think this is a wonderful feature that really adds to the Duolingo experience. People can interact with each other about the language that they are learning, and sometimes talking with other users or asking questions can help you learn a ton! Also, most people like a little friendly competition every now and them, so having that option is nice. I also like how you can do diffrent things to practice. I think the leaderboards are a cool idea, just please don't replace the clubs with them! I hope that you might reconsider your opinion. I do not want to appear to be rude or mean, I just would like to keep the clubs. Thanks and have a great night!
Please leave your feedback to Duo here. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeBY_RqEwl2x9heBSKL0jZSnNNiW4WzNSM33ztgMJA7Y9OahQ/viewform?usp=sf_link
Thank you for reminding everyone about this link Andres. I hope more and more users see and complete it.
I hope many users will do it, I do not want to see the clubs go away. (Being that I am in the best club off Duolingo) ;)
Thanks! I filled this out and I will encourage others to too. Have a great day!
Yes, I have done it. Also, posted to my Club members to do the same. I have advised them not to reply to the new announcement about these Championship Leaderboards. If they press the JOIN NOW option, they will be unable to rejoin the club. It has already happened to one of my members. How sad to remove our clubs, we love the interaction and making like- minded Duo friends. A few of us have been talking in Spanish and getting to know each other. How will we keep in touch after the dreaded date of the 18th May ??
Hi Alicia. See my reply to you on the Save Our Clubs thread on how you can continue after May 18th.
I know there's a lot of talk about starting clubs outside of Duo, and though that is an option, and always has been, it's not the solution I prefer. I like having one site/app where I'm learning different languages. If I have to start using alternatives, in addition to Duo, to get the benefits I am currently getting with Duo, I might as well look for another site/app that offers everything I want in one place.
I am with you Abby, I miss my Spanish club too. Friendly competition is encouraging, we can check on how our friends doing within the club and see familiar names BUT now I feel very isolated. Last week I delibrately studied less so I could be demoted from the league and put back to the club I came from; but no I am back with a new group of people chasing after the top 10 spots. I enjoy the learning experience but I don't want to play video game. I have learn a lot from Duo and I love those excersies with child like features, it allows me to take a break from the learning tree and have some funs.
Hi @Loura8. It really is isolated without the familiarity of the clubs. I know exactly what you mean. Can I suggest you find a Spanish club outside of Duolingo? I know it is not ideal, but it will keep the motivation going. If you have the details of your former club members you could form one yourself. Otherwise many of us have set up groups in advance of clubs being shut down depending on what platform you prefer. I have seen mention of Discord, for example. For our club, we have gone the Facebook route and already have old members from the club as well as new members from this forum. If you don't find anything, you are welcome to join us! Good luck!
