"Qatlh yIn."

Translation:Life is complicated.

April 25, 2019

Just FYI for the mods: the hints for Qatlh do not include anything like 'complicated' or 'difficult'. Instead, it includes the hints apparently meant for qatlh: 'why,' 'why do,' and 'why will'. I'm sure this has to do with the capitalization of the initial q- by the computer system, but in Klingon, Q and q are of course actually different letters of the alphabet.

I don't know if anything can be done about this or not. But I saved a screenshot showing the hints, if it helps.

I have an idea how to jury-rig a solution, but it cannot be back-fit into the currently existing tree and will have to wait for us to create an updated tree. I'd rather they just fix the recognition of capital letters, but that's so deeply ingrained in the software that it would be an even more massive undertaking for them to fix it.

OK, I just wanted to be sure you were aware. I don't know the inner workings of the Duolingo software, but I can understand how it could be a big problem to fix what is, really, a minor hint issue. The hints might be fine when Qatlh isn't in initial position, I don't know. It just happened to come up the very first time I ever encountered the word Qatlh in Duolingo, so while it's confusing initially, it's probably not that consequential in the long run, once we all get accustomed to the word.

Do you need the screenshot, or can I scrap it?

If you can post it here, I'll send it to our contact to remind them we are still waiting for the fix, just in case that's of any help. Maybe you could also send it to bug reports: https://support.duolingo.com/hc/en-us/articles/204728264-How-do-I-report-a-bug-

It's been on our list of known issues - https://forum.duolingo.com/comment/26778885 - for months. Over a year, I think.
