Starting yesterday, Duolingo has not been functioning properly. In multiple choice questions that ask you to fill in the blank, all the choices are missing. Also, the text is right on top of the blank space where your supposed to write the answer. I was unable to complete any of the exercises yesterday and would have lost my streak, were my Streak Freeze not equipped. Today, there doesn't seem to be any improvement. Is anybody else having this problem? I don't see any posts about it in the Discussion Forum.
Update: I was finally able to access Duolingo by using Firefox instead of Safari. It seems like the best solution is to switch to a different web browser. Somebody else mentioned Google Chrome.

All right Duo Lingo it's been five days of the malfunctioning website for me. I've submitted a bug report and want to know when it will be fixed. I have to use the app or risk losing a whole lesson if one question without the answers comes up on the web. It's a problem with both German and Czech.
It seems to me there are 2 problems. 1. the word bank is not entirely visible. I zoomed out and all the word choices appeared. The other problem 2. there is a layering of the answer windows with only one multiple choice window visible. This is the problem for me. I tried using Google Chrome as has been suggested. Not working for me. In the meantime I'm using the phone app and doing the stories. Hopefully this gets fixed soon.
The third problem for me, which makes the new lessons unuseable, is that pick the word exercise. The words do not appear and I am not given the option to use the keyboard. As a result I can't complete the lesson.
The same for so many of us apparently. All in the same boat. As far as I'm concerned I'll have to keep doing the stories and vocabulary exercises. Can't see it being rectified quite honestly.
Have you tried the zoom in method ? Thats the way I resolved it...Once I zoomed way way in....I was able to see all the words in the word bank and the layering of the windows went away. I zoomed in to the extent of not being able to see the entire page but it allowed me to see the all the words and the windows with the answer choices
Thanks for the tip. Zooming works on my iPhone 4. I just tried the same exercise that failed on my iPad. The "Select the word" questions showed all of the answers, there was room to type answers and still see the question, but the "listen and type" had no sound. When I hit "Can't listen now", up popped a note saying "No listening exercise. They will be back in an hour." Then the answer showed and gave me credit. No multiple sentence questions were part of this lesson. Doing lessons on this tiny phone screen is a pain, but at least it's something until Duolingo hopefully makes things right VERY SOON!! I keep filing a bug report every day....
That's exactly what I did yesterday. Google Chrome failed, resorted to the stories ( which I've done SO many times)
Cancel my last comment. Apparently I did not "zoom in" enough on my previous attempt. I zoomed in more and now the layering problem is gone and I can see all the windows and answer choices. Try zooming in more
I'm using a Macbook Pro not an iPad . I do not know how to do it on an iPad but I bet there is a way. Try going to settings. View or accessibility. Dig around a little. I bet you can do it. If all else fails google it....
Please try editing your post and changing the topic from "Duolingo" to "Troubleshooting" so that it can be seen by folks who could help.
You'd think if this were a major problem it would be the lead subject under any topic.
chuparrosa38 as Lrtward suggested moving your post to the Troubleshooting section may indeed help. The general posting area has many posts and often gets only a glance from others, but users willing/trying to help follow the troubleshooting forum. Your post now has a comprehensive listing of many posts requiring assistance. I think if you update the title also it will bump your post up ... Website Malfunction continues or Website Malfunction day 2,3 etc.

I have the same bugs and have sent a report. As for your streak, someone recommended doing a story. I did two today for 56+ points. Hope that works for you. You may get points for Tinycards as well.
I did a story. That was a first for me. Nice to do that for a change. Thanks for that idea.

Thanks for the suggestion about Tinycards. I dug up an old Italian deck that I hadn't used for years and (hopefully) maintained my streak.
I've maintained my streak using tiny cards Italian. BUT ONLY FROM tiny cards.duolingo.com when pinned decks come up (2nd row) , move all the way to the right and Click on Duolingo Italian Course ( it is indicated by terra cotta colored "Roman ruins" with the green owl in the lower right hand corner. You will have many vocabulary card choices. Points are gained in groups of 5 per card usually. When you make your quota, log on to Duolingo and check your daily numbers. The points may take a minute or three to upload!
Thanks for that. Don't know what to do. I use my iPad so will have to see how to get to Duolingo using another browser. I have a streak freeze but it's been more than two days now. May have lost more than 400 days!! I may be getting tired of Duolingo anyway
Try the Stories if they are available on your iPad- they're cute and funny and a welcome change from the exercises. You can keep your streak that way. Also you can get the DL app for your phone and use your same sign in so it feeds your iPad account. I felt like giving up too but the stories and the phone app have inspired me anew. Keep at it and your very impressive streak!
Thanks Eleanor, yes I got wise to it and am doing, rather re-doing the stories to keep the streak. Will get DL on my phone, if that's going to be Duolingo now, so be it. I also do the vocabulary exercises, tinycards. Also great for vocab revision.
I have a similar problem BarbaraGemin on my ipad Version 9.3.5 . Neither Google Chrome nor Firefox can be downloaded on this version . I am not very good with technical problems but to me it seems that the size of the new upgrade of Duolingo is incompatible with this old Version of my ipad .
I'm not the only one then. Anyway, I'm a bit disappointed with Duolingo, after such dedication and perseverance. I'm trying to find another browser, or try my phone-but the writing is more awkward.
Same problem in Spanish on a MacBook using Safari - in any of the recently added lessons the multiple choice responses are all stacked on top of each other so you can't read them, and the select the picture questions have the text BEHIND the pictures so you can't read it.
There's also the fact that the new look of Duo is just plain hideous, NOT an upgrade. Give us back the old look and fix the graphics display problems!

I am having the same problem as you guys. I use Safari on a Mac and the same thing is happening on my windows machine. Funny thing is, my wife's and son's accounts are working fine on both Operating Systems. Hmmmm, why just my account? Frustrating given the fact I'm the one who wanted to learn a new language! I blame the NSA!
I tried to switch from iPad to computer and it was still the same problem.
someone suggested it was just a matter of zooming out...I tried that and it still does not work...the zoom out works for the word bank...but does not for the problem of the 3 blank spaces being on top of each other and only one answer choice being available. I also tried pulling the blank spaces apart and I couldn't do that either....in the mean time I'm on the phone app
I take it all back....it was a zoom in problem for me. I solved the layering issue by really zooming in and making the text big big big...
I have a similar problem . Basically i cannot carry on normally with my lessons . This happens on my ipad version 9.3.5 ( 13G36 ) and not on my desktop computer .
I installed Duo on my phone through Google Play and that seems to be working great. I'll use that as back up until the laptop version is fixed.
I did lose my 75 day streak (very upset!!) as a result of not being able to complete any exercises. What is 'doing a story'? I'm interested to know! How do I find out please?
On the top row, DL has the choices: Learn, Stories, Discuss, Shop, More. The stories are working OK. Sorry you lost your streak. Also, I switched from Safari to Google Chrome to open DL and now everything is working.
Hey all, possible progress today!!!!! I just took two tests and two timed practice tests on my older version ipad. The old fill in the blank with no word choice was replaced with a type the word option. The multiple choice questions are no longer on top of each other. I did have a couple single words where you had to choose the word and the picture is covered up. But this is a big improvement. I can actually do lessons today. Check it out and I hope it works for you too!
Unfortunately mine is still the same with missing words on the Mac Book using Safari. Will keeping doing Tiny Cards for now
Mine is also the same. I can not get to the next lesson because of the missing words.
Maybe just a problem with older Ipads.I can get the word bank or change to keyboard. My problem is when there is choose the word option. There are no words nor is there a way to use the keyboard, so I can not complete any new lessons.
Maybe it's a problem with Apple devices. I have a fairly new Mac Book but have the same problem
Another annoying thing is that I did lessons on a regular computer today. It worked fine and there were no missing word questions to answer. But now working back on my ipad missing word questions (which I can't complete) are included.
I have exactly the same problem with you Denise . No problem at all on my Desktop computer , however i have the same problem with you on my old ipad ( version 9.3.5 ) but a newer version of ipad ( version 12 ) works fine and gives no problem at all .
I also have an older ipad which cannot update to the newest version. I might have to wait until I get a newer refurbished ipad.
Denise, why don't you try what I did. I gave up as I had the same problem. I downloaded the Duolingo App instead of using the online .com version. That works so I now work from the App. I check the other version sometimes but NOTHING has changed. Very bad on their part.
I have downloaded the app in the past and may have to do so again.I prefer the web version but I may have to use the app, which may be the point of the update. It does not seem like the issue is being addressed.
