What is a cross cousin? I'm a native English speaker and have never heard the term in my life.

It's a distinction few people make in real life. A cross cousin is a child of your mother's brother or father's sister. Its antonym would be "parallel cousin", the child of your mother's sister or father's brother.

Well, in English the distinction is not made. In other languages it is.

English has a term for it, so it's not as if the distinction isn't made in English at all, it's just not made on the level of common familial terms.

Thank you I was unaware of this distinction as high valaryan is my second language but I plan on learning more as time goes on
