How do you say the year 2019?... and other years?

I want to be able to say years, as in what year something happened but I'm stuck! When I go to Google and ask "how to say the years in Ukrainian" I get the actual answer: років. I've tried many methods to get this information on the web, but I can't get an answer on how to say calendar-years!

I want to say the year I was born. I want to say what year my great-grandparents moved to Canada from Ukraine. I want to say what year I began learning Ukrainian. And so many other reasons to know what the years are.

Can someone please tell me how this is done?

Дякую!

Дві тисячі дев'ятнадцятий рік.
Народився у дві тисячі дев'ятнадцятому році.
Це сталося дві тисячі дев'ятнадцятого року.

Thanks! What about the 1900s? For 1974 do you treat it as: "one thousand nine hundred seventy-four"? Or "nineteen seventy-four"?

In Ukrainian, years are read as one number, not as two two-digit numbers.
BUT!..
In the 21st century, it became fashionable to sometimes to read years also in the "English" style. For example, the football championship "Euro-2012" in the media was read as "Євро двадцять дванадцять". Although they also used the traditional "дві тисячі дванадцять".
But this is not common in everyday conversations. And this never use with years of not the 21st century.

I think if you say "Я народилась у дев'ятнадцять сімдесят чотири році", Ukrainians will understand you. But with a smile. :)
"...у тисяча дев'ятсот сімдесят четвертому (році)" is better.

According to Google Translate, 1974 would be written as "одна тисяча дев'ятьсот сімдесят чотири", which seems correct.

IRL say "тисяча дев'ятьсот сімдесят чотири" or "тисяча дев'ятьсот сімдесят четвертий рік". In this case, it is not necessarily to say "одна" because "тисяча" is one by default.

Is that actually how it's also said in conversation?

When I've Skyped with my cousins in Ukraine, and I'm trying to refer to a year in my conversation, I want to refer to it in two double digit number - i.e. 2018 = twenty eighteen, or "двадцять вісімнадцять" because that would be a simple way to say it in English. But they just look at me and laugh, so I guess it isn't an acceptable way of saying it. ;)

Not being a fluent conversationalist I can't really say for sure, but I believe that would be the correct usage in conversation, other than adding роки or років afterwards.

Well, I guess that shows you how much I know, which isn't very much. Lol
