Chinese Mandarin and English Exchange Group
Hi friends, I am a Chinese native speaker, currently living in mainland China. My name is 鹏, you can call me Marcus(English name) if you like. I created a WhatsApp group for people to learn Chinese or English. (group link is at the bottom)
We should all either already speak or be learning both English and Chinese, that way we can all exchange knowledge throughout our learning process. There is no teacher here. We are all students who should be helping each other learn as an "exchange." This means that unfortunately we don’t have the resources to teach English/Chinese to the entire world, so if you’re interested in learning English but not Chinese, you should find another group or vise versa. There are plenty of others for exclusively English or Chinese. 入群的朋友需要讲中文或者英文，这样我们可以借助中/英文来交流学习各种知识。这里没有老师，只有学生，我们通过互相帮忙来进行学习，例如我帮助其它人学习中文，而其它人帮助我学习英文。这意味着如果你既不会中文也不会英文，可能你需要寻找其它的语言学习群，毕竟WhatsApp或WeChat上面有许多英文或中文群。
Give corrections when you see the opportunity. 当有人表达过程中有瑕疵或错误，请予以纠正
No private messages without permission 获得对方允许后，才可以发私信
Only English/Chinese You can speak any language you want, as long as you also provide a translation of it to either English or Chinese. That way no one in the group is left out of the conversation and we keep the focus on practicing the target languages of the group. 只可以说中文或英文 当然你也可以说其它语言，但请记住需要将它翻译成中文或英文。这样的话，我们每个人都不会排除在当前对话之外，我们也能够更加专注在我们的目标语言上。
No spam or advertisement 不允许刷屏以及广告
Avoid textspeak 这个我不知道如何翻译，好像中文不存在这个问题 Text speak is the process of shortening words by replacing groups of letters with single vowels or numbers like “C U l8er” or using acronyms that are only used online and over text messages like “BRB” and “TTYL.”

One more thing, anyone who thinks this is valuable, please give this post an "upvote" so that more people could see it and join us.
Hey Marcus! Thank you so much for creating an English/Mandarin exchange group like this one!
I'm sure you'll find many native English speakers here on Duolingo who are willing to help you and the rest of the group with English in exchange for you and the other native Mandarin speakers helping with their Mandarin.
I wish I could join but I am not able to download that app right now. Can we practice English with other kind of ways. If there's nothing else that I can do about it then sorry. But still wish that I could practice English with you.
Thanks your comment. I created this group for people to learn English/Chinese from native speakers. Right now we only have WhatsApp group. In case of that you'are in mainland China, I guess you don't have access to WhatsApp. That way you can add my Wechat(id:dongge0500) if you like.
Thank you! I will add you if I have time. I currently have a lot of school work to do. So I have been pretty busy these days.
Any chance of adding a WeChat group? Since it has translation built in, that would make posting easier.
Thanks. At the moment, I don't have a Wechat group for learning Chinese/English. I was in several Wechat groups which are focused on English learning before. It's not quite convenient to use. When you scroll up to check some former messages, you will automatically brought to the bottom once you receive a message.
Anyway, there are lots of Wechat groups out there. Tell me what kind of groups do you wanna join in. I would like to help if I can.
I think I need something along the lines of "Mandarin for the tonaly challenged"
Tip for getting the tones -- Make 4th tone a sharp accent (like "dang!"). 3rd tone is low but just a hair longer. Work on those two, imitate the way the words sound on the others and you will be understood. (Then drill drill drill and the tones start sounding natural, in time.)
Hi Marcus, Can you contact me on my private line or vice versa. I think there is some kind of a problem with WhatsApp. I don't think anybody can see my messages.
I know this guy. Excellent person and what I can tell is that you guys will be very successful being part of this group, because of the dedication and willing to always improve language skills. Thanks for the initiative Marcus.
A very good post! Welcome more and more people around the world take part in it.
