Mi a különbség a magyarországi magyar és az erdélyi magyar között?

Majdnem semmi. A csángó magyar viszont archaikus. Az erdélyiek a székelyek.

"The Csango people (Hungarian: Csángók, Romanian: Ceangăi) are a Hungarian ethnographic group of Roman Catholic faith living mostly in the Romanian region of Moldavia, especially in Bacău County. Their traditional language, Csango, an old Hungarian dialect, is currently used by only a minority of the Csango population group."

"The Székelys (Hungarian pronunciation: [ˈseːkɛj]), sometimes also referred to as Szeklers (Hungarian: székelyek, Romanian: Secui, German: Szekler, Latin: Siculi), are a subgroup[5][6] of the Hungarian people living mostly in the Székely Land in Romania. " (wikipedia)

Nem minden erdélyi magyar székely. Not every Transylvanian Hungarian person is a sekler.

'The Seklers are living in the valleys and hills of the Eastern Carpathian Mountains, corresponding to the present-day Harghita, Covasna, and parts of Mureş Counties in Romania.' (wikimedia)

From 1867 to 1918 Transylvania was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Currently, about 1.2 million people speak Hungarian as their mother tongue. The people living here usually speak in dialects. These dialects show some vocabulary, morphology, and phonetic differences compared to the "standard" Hungarian, but understandable. For example such is the Székelyudvarhely dialect: https://videa.hu/videok/kreativ/szekely-nyelvjaras-udvarhely-dialektus-erdely-erdelyi-magyar-wecbLIuldXKzDyKe

The linguists distinguish the following ten Hungarian dialects:

Today's Hungarian dialect regions

The VIII. and IX. area located in Erdély, the X. is the moldvai csángó region. Understanding the different dialects is not really a problem (only a few unknown words can occur).

Thank you for that.

Do you mean the language - or the people? Same people - but some of the language has frozen for 100 years.

I was thinking about the language. I am dutch and i can easily understand people from Belgium, but its not exactly the same language. I was wondering how that is like for Hungarians when they speak with people from Tansilvania. And can you give me some examples of different words? Thank you

I have asked my Erdélyi friends for more examples. Here's what came back:

Isn't any difference. Maybe dialect. But in Hungary are some dialect too. In Erdély they kept better the original language, in Hungary they use more slang , in Erdély sometimes they use Romanian words in Hungary they use English or other. That can be the difference or the intonation.

No, it is much closer - more like a dialect. Basically a bit of an accent and a few odd words. One is the use of "s" for "és" (and). In standard Hungarian "s" is used mostly in poetry these days - so it is understood just unusual.

A nyelvben?

Erdélyiek, no. A különbséget érteni nehéz, érezni kell. Javaslok egy székelyföldi utazást, megbánni nem fogod.

Okay, here it is in English, if my Hungarian proved too difficult to understand:

In the language?

Unfortunately, I couldn't spend too much time in Transylvania, but I have several Transylvanian friends living in Hungary. So my experiences are limited, but I can state that there is no actual difference in the grammar, and even the large number of dialectical words unusual for the Hungarian listener is not a real obstacle of understanding.

And the people... Well, they're Transylvanians. It is hard to understand the difference, it is to be felt. I suggest a travel to Székelyföld, you won't regret.
