I would pay a ridiculous amount of money per month to Duolingo if it offered Icelandic.
I grew up in Iceland. It's very dear to me. I came to the states as a Child and haven't been back.
It has been a lifelong goal of mine to return, but I have a very basic vocabulary of the language.
What needs to happen for Duolingo to prioritize this?
I would gladly pay for premium ten times over if this was offered.
I know Duolingo won't make anyone fluent, but as a baseboard to start, it's a fantastic tool
Looks solid! I'll have to try it out to see if it works for me. Duolingo is very convenient, and the app is intuitive.
Mango Languages also offers Icelandic. You can check their website to see if you can get a free subscription through your local library and maybe save a bit of money too.
Plenty of discussions of Icelandic lately. They'd decreased for about a year, but w/in the last couple of weeks there have been half a dozen or more. Try the links in Please add Faroese, icelandic or norse please for useful study material, and the links from those discussions, and the links from those discussions, and . . .
Try Memrise until then. They offer a very good official course in Icelandic. Then try some of the community courses. You can learn basic words and grammar like as on Duolingo.

Sorry, but I seen that they are really basic.

Haha. But, really, what if they weren't enemies, as we have been lead to think...
What about Marvel and DC? There was no rivalry.
I am not entirely sure about this course, but the Latin courses on Mango languages are really good. So, here's the Icelandic one: https://mangolanguages.com/available-languages/learn-icelandic/
I went to Iceland in January! Its SOOO beautiful! its my favorite place I've ever traveled to! I would love to learn Icelandic!
Did you know, that the Icelandic language has barely changed anything over the hundreds of years, and Icelandic people today can easily read writings that were written centuries ago.
I did know this! One of my many motivations is that I want to read original transcripts of Beowulf and Snorri Sturluson's original works.
I agree that we need Icelandic. I spent two years there and would like to strengthen what I know of the language. I need repetition. It's a beautiful language and I agree it should have a higher priority. It is very difficult though which would make it a challenge to put together. I'd be willing to help but I'm not a native.
They should have icelandic, they have so much other things buy they still don't have icelandic :(
So many people want this course and I'm pretty sure many people would be willing to contribute to it, so I don't see why it hasn't been added to the Incubator yet. Also, someone probably already said this, but don't give Duolingo any ideas.
Well Duolingo needs contributors in order to create a new language course. These contributors are usually native speakers of the language.
I came here to learn icelandic too! I decided to start with Norwegian, since it's similar, but now that I see that I can learn Icelandic directly elsewhere... Well, but nothing! I'm hooked! I ain't leaving until I'm fluent!
Yes! I searched for Icelandic too, Someone showed me an Icelandic word for „jumping in puddles“—„what was the word „you ask? No idea because Duolingo doesn’t offer Icelandic of course, but heck if the pure existence of this concept as vocab isn‘t reason enough to want to learn this language then heaven knows what would be:)
Mango had posted a tweet today with a quiz to find what language matches your personality. I took the quiz and matched with Icelandic. At the end of the quiz, I was asked to hit a button that would take me to the Mango app to start learning it. Try it. Perhaps you will find it useful.
I just took that quiz. Maybe it gives everyone the same answer? Because my suggested language was Icelandic as well.
