You should check www.clasevirtual.ru . It is a site specially for spanish students. There are lots of films and series in spanish with subtitles in spanish. I made it because, as a spanish teacher, I needed for my students such sort of thing but couldn’t find it anywhere in the web. I am not a great webmaster so dont be too strict!))
Spanish TV series w/ English subtitles
Gran Hotel/Grand Hotel -- Oft lauded as "The Spanish Downton Abbey," this fast paced period drama is part mystery, part romance, and completely bingeable. Where to watch: first 9 episodes at http://www.hulu.com/grand-hotel, first two seasons on Netflix, For fans of: The Bletchley Circle
El Tiempo Entre Costuras/The Time Between Seams -- Another period drama, this 17 episode miniseries based on an international bestseller follows seamstress Sira Quiroga from girl to woman. You won't want to miss her journey or the adventures that shape her along the way, set against the backdrop of a country shadowed by the threat of war.
Where to watch: http://www.hulu.com/the-time-in-bet://www.hulu.com/grand-hotel,
For fans of: Reign, Call The Midwife
Ángel o Demonio/Angel or Demon -- This supernatural drama features a group of seductive, human faced demons and the reluctant young girl who's fated to try and stop them from claiming souls. It's a bit less heavily serialized than many others on this list. It features a ludicrously attractive young cast, and would fit right in on the American tv network the CW. Where to watch: https://www.viki.com/tv/11963c-angel-or-demon, For fans of: Supernatural, The Vampire Diaries
Desaparecida/Vanished -- Follows the investigation into the disappearance of a teenage girl, as well as the wrenching impact on her family. Not bad, but gets bogged down by an endless string of red herrings, and lacks the striking cinematography, atmospheric quality, and intriguing investigators that several English-language programs in a similar vein have brought to the table. It's probably the only show on this list where romance isn't a major plot line. Where to watch: http://www.hulu.com/desaparecida, For fans of: The Killing
Velvet - A comedy/romance focused on the workers and owners of a luxury fashion store in the 50's. It can be more than a little corny, and much of the humor is more silly than funny. Still, a fun, light-hearted watch. Where to watch: first two seasons on Netflix, For fans of: The Paradise
Other subtitled Spanish dramas available for free on Hulu include Isabel (period drama), La Fuga (prison break/romance), and Gran Reserva (soap opera) among others. And Netflix has recently added some additional Spanish language programs to their offerings.
Hi! I personally watch a lot of Spanish-language short films, since short films are quick enough to sit through, plus it's nice to have a (more or less) complete plot in one sitting.
Tooting my own horn here, but I blog about a number of free online ones over at www.freespanishshortfilms.com
Moreover, I made a YouTube playlist of the Spanish-language short films I've viewed there so far, and here's a link to that, too: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLWgqul1I9Dm08eovp_KGHcazjrAVvB_f6
Hope this helps!

You could take a look at this extension we made for studying languages with Netflix:

Thanks for the list! Im a big fan of "equipos de investigacion" on youtube. Also for a good book google "los hombres que no amaban mujeres" and you can also youtube the audio for the book. I think it really helps to read the words while listening.. And since the audio is 18 hours long it makes for an intensive excercise
I would like to contribute to this post by adding Destinos. It's pretty good and has alot of episodes I don't think there are any subtitles but it's made for beginners and you get to learn some culture as well as hear different accents and see different parts of Spanish speaking countries: http://learner.org/series/destinos/
Great stuff. Some more useful links for learning spanish: http://vut.pl/darmowe-kursy-jezyka-hiszpanskiego-online.html

Thanks for this, do you know any more good movies or short movies? I already watched all the ones you listed. A few other good short movies I watched were 'Ten Minutes' (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L4xDUZw9wJU) and 'The Circle' (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m7e1d71gD_o)
I hate to tell you the translations on these videos are poorly done. Do not watch this. Here are a few sites that are actually worth looking into for anyone learning the language:
-
http://www.bbc.co.uk/languages/spanish/mividaloca/ep01/index.shtml its interactive so it immerses you into the language.
-
https://vimeo.com/groups/246581/videos/40567406 they speak slow and the translation is correct
-
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9fGAYgdZoFY cute stick figure animation with proper subtitles

the subtitles are also correct.
Enjoy.
Thank you for suggesting El Círculo (The Circle). It is something I likely would have never watched, but am glad I did. And thank you for not giving too much of a description of it. I'll just say a little bit more about it. The Circle is a film that will take you less than 20 minutes to watch and is well worth your time. The Spanish is clear and slow (and you can watch it with English subtitles if you need to). Initially, I was going to be more descriptive about this film, but I think that would ruin the experience of it, so I'll leave it at that.
creativeri thank you for posting this list of movie sites for the people who are learning Spanish. I just came across this problem of finding good movies or sites to help my husband learn Spanish. I have how ever looked through you list and condensed it to four good sites. the reason being that to learn Spanish the subtitles are very important and most of the sites either didn't have any or the translation was garbage.

Hi Caliveri! It's good to know that you're learning spanish! Thx for adding me as your friend in Duolingo! but I'm looking for someone to talk! I'm interested in practicing my english by skype or in a similar way. I'm willing to help you with your spoken spanish! If you're interested leave me a message! Thx!!
Gracias, creativeri and to all others who have contributed to this list. Haven't seen everything on it, but I did recently see El Pasajero (The Passenger). That was so worth watching. I may have never seen something like that had you not suggested it. You can watch it with English subtitles, but the Spanish isn't too fast and the film gives you a lot of pauses in between the words to think about what was said. Like the Christmas Carol at Christmas, this is one that should be watched every New Year's Eve.
