The issue with the Navajo course.

So, I am very interested in Native American Languages and I really want to learn Navajo but with the Duolingo course which has no audio support, it's very hard to know if I am saying a word correctly. This is very discouraging for me especially because I want to speak the language not just read it (as many probably do). Please if you have any suggestion for me I'd like to hear it.

I suggest you study IPA: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Phonetic_Alphabet , and later study the Navajo phonology: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Navajo_phonology . And that will give you an Idea of how to pronounce words.

I suspect more work is being done and they wanted the course out to get more people involved but I do not have much behind the scenes knowledge so take that with a grain of salt. If you are interested in Native American Languages, as I am, I know you might like Speak Mohawk app, it takes more work than Duo because it is basically a high tech dictionary with quizzes and games. Or you can check out Duo's Hawaiian course which has audio while we wait for Navajo tree 1.5 or better.

I’d have to agree on that statement. I worry that I’m saying words wrong. I just started the Navajo course and I remember going to the Navajo Nation and text being different from the pronunciation. If I go back, I don’t want to look stupid. Audio, please?

I have subscribed to daybreakwarrior on youtube. He has videos about culture, word-of-the-day videos, and short lessons. It does not perfectly line up will what Duo teaches but I am finding it helpful to learn pronunciation.

I literally finished the course in less than an hour and remember nothing. How does Duolingo even call this a course? It's so disappointing...
