I put "Tim Vickery" into search and it showed up zero articles. But when I tried to upload one it wouldn't let me as that article already existed. Which leads me to another problem: duplicate uploads. I've seen the same wiki article uploaded more than once: https://www.duolingo.com/translation/c28c4cef7164e2009b49eba3c1868c49 https://www.duolingo.com/translation/81116a47960cc11c40abc923c399d1f5, https://www.duolingo.com/translation/2ba92fa3809702ce5076c0975455fec6 Why weren't they prevented from duplicating an upload?
So search in immersion doesn't work properly and some duplicate uploads are allowed and not others, eg mine.
What operating system and browser (or app platform) you were using when you encountered the difficulty? (For example, I'm on Windows 7, Firefox.) You can edit your post and add that information if you'd like. It will help the tech crew examing possible causes of whatever is going on with the search bar. :)
I'm not part of the tech crew but wanted to help with what I could.
Re: your observations, I'm not sure what's up with the search bar. If you used a specific search term that showed up in it's entirety in the document, I imagine it should have worked. The search bar in the forum works that way at least. I wasn't aware we'd gotten the search bar yet either. When I was still active on Immersion, it didn't have one. If it works any differently, hopefully we will get an explanation.
As for multiple articles, only the person who uploads an article can download the finished product. So, if you have several people who need the same document translated and downloadable, it helps if they can each put on up.
I'm sure I've read other reasons, but that one stuck with me the most. I hope this has helped at least a little. ^_^
Thanks for your help. I'm using Windows 7 and Chrome. "If you used a specific search term that showed up in it's entirety in the document, I imagine it should have worked." I did and it didn't. "As for multiple articles, only the person who uploads an article can download the finished product. So, if you have several people who need the same document translated and downloadable, it helps if they can each" put on up." That of course doesn't explain why I couldn't. But to be fair these are only minor issues which they're possibly aware of anyway. Cheers.
Hrm... well they have gone back and forth a few times over whether to allow multiple uploads of the same article. Looks like my info was a little outdated. Thanks for replying to my comment! This is encouraging me to start using Immersion again so I can keep up with people´s questions better. :)
