German music?

German learners and speakers! I'm looking for more German music to listen to. Who are your favourite German bands/singers/songs? :)

I'd like to give you some more ideas, because I think learning with songs is one of the best things. According to the style of music you prefer and your current german level you may listen to:

  • Rammstein (very simple texts)

  • 2raumwohnung (simple)

  • Schandmaul (medium)

  • Sichelmond (medium)

  • Jazzkantine (advanced)

  • Fettes Brot (more advanced)

  • Herbert Groenemeyer (very advanced)

Rammstein may have simple texts, but they are full of innuendo and double meanings.

Definitely not my favorite but real classics with a clear voice that everybody beyond the age of 40 knows: Udo Juergens ;-)

Just German are specifically teutophone stuff? I will assume teutophone.

The other day I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the First Act of Wagner's Rienzi. Probably for it being the most Italian opera by the most German composer ever.

I also like Pilgrim's Chorus and Ride of the Valkyries of course but you so rarely hear the sung version of that one.

France Gall had a wonderful German period with songs like "Ein Bisschen Goethe", "Hippie Hippie", "Das schonn Era der Pianoplayer" and "Zwei appelsimen im Har".

I also like the songs "Das eine kuken piept", The Sailor Moon German theme song (it's different plus don't forget "Kampfe Sailor Moon) and "Tanz mit mir" by Faun.

I also enjoy soundtrack songs dubbed into German, it's just wonderful to have "Part of your world" in German plus the Theme songs to both Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Sonic Underground just work better in the language.

And of course "Rise like a Phoenix" which of course has a German version too.
