Lyrics Translation: Jenny of Oldstones – Jeni Uēpo Dōro

I translated the lyrics to this beautiful song which was featured on the current season of Game of Thrones. It seemed appropriate since the subject matter of the song is connected to the Targaryens. I tried to stay to stay as close to the original as possible while matching the general number of syllables. However, the stress and vowel length may not match perfectly. I appreciate any corrections of errors and feedback.

Wow this is beautiful, great work. You made me remember the moment again when Podrik sings it. I really like seeing such things translated in HV, but i'm not an active learner anymore so it would take me a while with the dictionary to get all the meaning or to find any errors.
Great work anyway.

I know it's already a year ago, but I just found this again and had some time to look deeper into it. It's really nice, I want to sing it now in HV, because I also like this song very much :D
I have some questions and suggestions:

Bōsirī istis luoti brōzia
-> is it "names" in plural accusative? I think it's brōza without an i

Rūnagon kostetos daor
-> which conjugation is kostetos? Should it be kōttos daor?

Zȳhon munnon ōdrī pāletis
-> maybe you can use qrīdrūdis instead of pāletis the second time. "they threw away her sorrow and pain". Like this you have the motion that the pain and sorrow is going away.

Skorī dōrossa ropatis
-> you could use vapār, until here instead of skorī.
'Til the walls did fall.

What do you think about those?

  • It should indeed be brōza.
  • Yes, we did not know the perfect at that point so I made an assumption, but it should be kōttos.
  • Maybe, although qrīdrūdis seems a bit negative in this context. I guess there is a point to repeating the same word twice. Maybe upāletis the second time?
  • Good suggestion!

Yes, I'm also not 100 percent fine with qrīdrūdis. upāletis could work I guess. I'm not sure if I completely understand the locative applicative, but for me it seems that the context tells you what kind of movement or position it is.
