Why was wrong?

The question asked to translate "Wir trinken Wasser." 1We are drinking. 2We drink water. 3We are getting water. I marked 1 and 2. It said the correct answer was: We drink water. I thought both were right can anyone explain why one wasn't? Thanks in advance.

In "We are drinking." you forgot the water, I hope Duolingo didn't. We drink water = we are drinking water. Both are right. drink is not get, so 3 is wrong.

Wir trinken Wasser = We drink water OR we are drinking water. You're right to think that.

But what it seems you missed in the question is that answer one is simply we are drinking. The German for that would be, I believe, "Wir trinken." The English sentence is missing the noun.

I hope that helped?
