Yeeesss!!! 100 days on Duolingo, 100 day streak!
I'm so happy about sticking with this. Admittedly I set ludicrous goals for myself, and I have been averaging well over the maximum of 50 per day. I can say that, for me, this has really helped me stay engaged with the learning process as inevitably I would get bored with the first few lessons of the day but would then get increasingly engaged.
Thanks Duo for making this awesome platform possible, and here's to many more 100-day runs in the future!
Im seventy two. A little over 2 years ago, I had a nasty flu virus. A couple weeks after the flu was over I was still feeling dizzy. It was difficult to concentrate. It seemed like I needed to re-wire my brain. So I reasoned that learning German May strengthen my ability to concentrate and remember. It has worked remarkably well! So I began this as a focus and memory training thing. I continue because of my love for the language and German Culture. Grateful to all of you who make this possible!
That is amazing. I'm "over 50" myself - thank you for sharing. I find that I can "help" my brain's elasticity by doing a lot of work too. I have been proceeding by completing all of the lessons in a given topic, up to level 5, an NOT taking the "let's get thru the tree at level 1 then come back for more levels" route. That works very well for me, it really reinforces the learning that I get every day - to the point where I wake up from dreams in (in my case) Spanish. Good luck on your learning and keep in touch!
I also just hit 100 days, also over 50 and also working for brain elasticity. I do something similar with levels by slowing expanding my tree with two rows at each level, working back through the tree to move it all up one level. It allows me to review material frequently, but not all at once, which seems to stretch me bit more so that I remember things better. Keep up the good work!
Congrats! I feel the same way, i'm so happy about sticking with it too! I always try to do more than my 50xp required also.
Good luck to you as you continue your language journey! And all the best as you head towards your next milestone :)
Wow! This is so cool! Great job for having the perseverance and determination!
wow this was super motivational, i always try to do more than 50 as well but sometimes i just feel like i run out of time :(
Congratulations! Can you even imagine how much more you will know a few months from now? Duolingo has a winning formula for learning language. I am truly impressed by its format. It's natural -and fun! Much better than conjugating a bunch of verbs! Having an opportunity to comment in the discussions is really nice too. Speaking another language opens another door. Give yourself a pat on the back! Kudos to all of us here! Inspire! Go for it!
I completely agree. My spouse teaches college Spanish and I have compartmentalized myself with Duolingo for my own learning; she is very impressed with how far I've come already. I can't wait to see how far I get in the next few months. I have a goal of flipping to Spanish spoken first at home in the next month or so, in order to get immersed more :-)
Thanks for the kudos!!!
Yayyyyy!!!! That's my goal right now although for this past week i had to set my limit to 10 per day. To more 100s though
