Unsuccessfully trying to figure out the verb groups system in Danish

Hello, as written in the title, I'm kind of struggling to find out how to tell apart the verbs groups in Danish, how do you know when one verb belongs to the first/second group? Is there a grammatical explanation about that? Thanks.

Hej alle sammen, jeg prøver at finde ud hvordan hvordan man skelner et verb fra den første eller anden gruppe. Kan nogen forklare mig? Tak.

Bonjour, comme écrit dans le titre, j'ai du mal à distinguer les deux groupes de verbes en danois. Comment faites-vous pour savoir si un verbe est du premier ou du second groupe ? Est-ce qu'il y a une explication grammaticale logique à ce sujet ? Merci d'avance pour vos réponses.

Hi Camille, I found this pdf quite helpful, but (as in everything else in Danish) is kinda like we have to figure out by using them.

Good luck!

Bonjour Camille

I don't know of a grammatical explanation that works as for example the french system with -er/-ir/-re and the irregulars. I've done a quick search and came up with nothing.

But, all dictionaries worth their salt, will tell you the present form, the past tense, and the past participle, like this:

Ryge, -r, røg, røget

That will at least show you that there is a change in the conjugation process

Besides that I've found a list of the so called "strong" verbs (the irregular verbs) here:

I hope it helps :)
