New Japanese Tree, Audio Missing

In the Japanese-for-English Tree 3.0, almost half of the sentences are missing audio completely. This is of course a major issue. Thank you for looking into it.

It says on the announcement thread that they are aware of it

I wrote that thread. This is just a follow-up reminder.

Haha, my bad. Totally thought it was just someone complaining about it

No worries!

So far, the new course looks really great and I'm enjoying it despite the sound problems. However, I do hope that they are able to correct these sound issues before rolling it out to everyone

Unfortunately, I fear that the validity of any A/B test at this point is severely compromised due to the magnitude of the sound problems. On both Mac and iOS about a third to half of the sentences are missing sound at the sentence level. I've been able to work around the missing sentence sound by hovering over each character to check the sound. However, sometimes the sound given isn't the proper reading for that word. In the matching exercises, often 3 of the 5 kanji are missing sound, so unless we know the characters already, we have to randomly guess.

Hi Luke,

maybe there is a way for Camilo to help with his "Duolingo Tree Enhancer" userscript which can support TTS:

Not sure how the left "Duolingo (Japanese) audio" side is handled, as I guess external TTS (Google & Co.) is not normally played.

But if the Duolingo audio would completely missing, maybe there is a way to check for that sentence status flag and forward to an external Japanese TTS?
