Audio cuts off

Whenever I do the first question of a lesson and it's a "what sound does this make?" question (the question where you have to match the pinyin to the audio), it always cuts off. For example if the word is "好" the audio just plays ha.... and it doesnt finish the word. I'm not sure if this is something wrong with just the Chinese course or if there is something wrong with my device. Does anyone know? Thanks in advance

Hello Daniel,

Which platform are you using? (Web, Android App, iOS App)

I've noticed the same behavior browsing the Web UI on Android with Firefox but it worked well with Chrome. I have no idea why tho.

Cheers

OK, I've read a few discussions on the topic (here and there).

Some people suggest trying to use alternate browsers (even IE... I guess Duolingo is safe enough that you can use IE for it if you still have it). Also, perhaps check if your browsers are up to date (Entering their Help > About screen checks for update on Chrome and Firefox).

Other people mention it may be network speed.

Do the sounds play correctly if you click the speaker icon after the first time they play?

FWIW, I tried Google Chrome Version 75.0.3770.80 (Official Build) (64-bit) and Firefox 67.0.1 (64-bit) on my laptop and both browsers played sound correctly.

Wish I could do more. I guess the last solution would be to file a bug report using this procedure.

I have a similar problem with French and Spanish lessons. With, type what you hear questions, there is often no audio coming through. This happens quite sporadically and is rather annoying since I sometimes cannot finish the exercise. And also, the problem occurs only on either of my two laptops, never on my cell phone. So I don't think it's your device. Maybe something in Duo needs to be updated.
