I Hit a ROADBLOCK on the website

I am learning Czech and have 88 crowns, so I'm well into my learning. I come to level #2 in Possess #1, 13% complete. The lesson requires you to choose words to make the sentence, but the bottom row of words is covered and impossible to access with my cursor. Will I be able to pass the checkpoint if I don't complete Possess #1? Won't I need what I learn in the remaining 87% of Level #2, as well as Level #3, 4, and 5 to continue to learn? Any help in understanding what is going on will help this old man. Peace

I've also encountered this problem and changed the css in developer tools to make the letters and spacing smaller. There also exist add-ons for browsers where you can change the css for a specific page.

the recent updates are rather form over function. your browser could have a zoom feature to reveal more of the page. if you are using the app, try to select typing instead of word blocks. and if that fails, use your mobile browser to access the web version of the course. avoiding the messed up interface features is a skill in itself.

I'm using my laptop, and choosing typing, in lieu of block words isn't an option. It is standard procedure in higher levels to type all of the sentences. I wonder how you could contact the website to rectify this problem? My laptop is older and only allows zooming or enlarging the entire screen, Thank you for your response.

i experienced the same issue (word tiles not fitting a small screen). it was introduced with one of the recent updates. i re-reported it in a thread where others had reported it before.
i think that in my browser there is always an option to switch to typing (not always the other way), on every screen of the lecture. other than that, the browser (current firefox) allows to scale the viewed page (with ctrl minus) and i got used to doing lectures on 90% size which solved my troubles

To my understanding, most (if not all) computer browsers have some function to zoom in or out, regardless of the computer itself. It might just be a matter of finding it. :)

Do you know how to access the Zoom feature on a browser? (It's not that built-in magnifier thingy that all computers have - it's actually in the browser.)

I zoom and "de-zoom" my laptop display regularly when using Duo -- most recently (and most annoyingly) it became necessary to shrink it just to find the Logout option. On my laptop/Chrome combo, I use CTRL-scroll up and CTRL-scroll down to zoom.

i can contact duolingo, but it will be a waste of time. in my experience repeated over and over, they do what they want when they want. consider them the weather. if i could get them to respond here, they would give a story about hundreds of millions of users, building a brighter future, free language education, priorities needing to be considered, and so forth. but they won't respond at all.

options for you:

look for the input toggle between the SKIP and CHECK buttons. it would say USE KEYBOARD in your case. (if you do not see it, could you share a printscreen where the buttons show up?)

try a different device (ETA: or browser), if you have access to one.

wait until the problem goes away. i am sure another rejiggling of the user interface is nearly upon us. it always is.

Thanks again for your input. I will experiment at this point or switch language programs if I'm unable to access the words needed to complete the lesson. What can I expect for free? Is the paid version error free?

no, paying will not give you a better interface.
