Arabic Word of the Day 50#
*Salom! Today we're going to look at birds in Arabic :
*الطيور = "Alt^uyoor" = [The] Birds
*A few days ago we looked at the word "الطائر " (Alt^aa'ir) meaning "the bird", there's also another word for "the bird" which is "العصفور " (Al3us^foor) which is also very common
*الكناري = "Alkanaari" = The Canary
*الببغاء = "Albabaghaa' " = The Parrot
*البجعة = "Alba3ja" = The Swan
*الاوزة = "Al'iwaza" = The Goose
*الدجاجة = "Aldajaaja" = The Chicken [s]
*الطوقان = "Alt^ooq^aan" = The Toucan
*الحمامة = "Alh^amaama" = The Pigeon
*الطاووس = "Alt^aawoos" = The Peacock
*البطة = "Albat^a" = The Duck
*النعامة = "Alna3aama" = The Ostrich

*الغراب = "Alghuraab" = The Crow
*النورس = "Alnawras" = The Seagull
*النسر = "Alnasr" = The Eagle
*الصقر = "Alsaq^r" = The Falcon/Hawk
*الطائر الطنان = "Alt^aa'ir alt^anaan" = The Hummingbird - "Alt^aa'ir " meaning "the bird", and "alt^anaan" meaning "that buzzes", so "Alt^aa'ir alt^anaan" is the "bird that buzzes" or "the Hummingbird".
*الرفراف = "Alrafraaf" =The Kingfisher

Have a Nice Day! Cya guys! :D Oooh! We've reached post 50! ;D
Thanks a lot for today's post! (Alhudhud. Reminds me of "Hoot-hoot")
And congratulations on reaching a half-century!
The minion in the middle reminds me of myself when I get a Duolingo question right.
It's been 50 days and my exams already started and im neat to finish :(
Good luck with our exams though
My sister's going to finish tomorrow! No fair! :'( She's handing her books down to me! :( Good luck to you too! Luckily, mine aren't the final exams but they're still important ;p
Really? SPREAD THE NEWS THAT WE ARE NOT FUN! For example:
American cuisine - Mcdonalds
American fashion- go to Walmart in your pajamas nobody cares.
American top icons - Taylor Swift and Donald Trump (I don’t think I have to expound on that!)
American top place to visit- the Statue of Liberty (Just a big green lady?)
And that is all we have to offer here, What do you have?
P.S guys I’m just joking (America is boring to me at times.) but I really do love where I live and enjoy the freedoms I have here.
Well in England:
English cuisine: fish and chips
English fashion: any ripped thing that looks like your auntie sat on it
English top icons: umm I dunno I look at myself as an icon ;p Probably the Queen though I dunno what she even does, but hey! [the only thing that irritates me is the fact the princes think they're the centre of everything! Like no-one cares if you go to your mum's house on a visit!]
England top place to visit: Cancelled. It's raining [it is right now as well XD] ... if it was just cloudy maybe you'd go to the London eye [it's so boring and slow even a Thomas Ride is faster!]
And other than a free shower in the summer too, that's all we have to offer... So next time you get the choice between going to Spain or England [like that's even a hard pick!] while you're on a nice Spanish beach relaxing, remember! You won't be missing much in England!
Ps: I'm not joking. But that's just my opinion... ;p
LOL everybody says that's his country is boring XD where can one have fun anyway?!
Wow! The people in England wish to go America! Trust me, England is BoRiNg!... in simple words
I like Algeria too, nothing's like home but... sometimes people bother me =(
Yep the Royals are even popular over in America. (They are all over almost all the magazines in the grocery store.) I honestly feel bad for the “famous” people because they cannot do anything without the whole world knowing in less than 20 seconds LOL.
I think some of our top people in America right now are: Taylor Swift, Donald Trump, Justin Beiber and Lady Gaga. They are on everything! You can’t even read through the news or flip the TV channel hardly without them being on there due to reporters and paparazzi.
Don't forget me guysss! Triple high five! ;p Only Sousou is the odd one out cus we both live in England! ;p haha lol!
Los pájaros son mis animales favoritos. Actualmente tenía dos periquitos. Tristemente solo tengo uno ahora porque el otro morió.
¿Puedes entender mi comentario sin usar un traductor? :)
Sorry Andres, i am not so advanced spanish learner as you are. So i used google translate and i am sorry for your loss man! I am starting to concentrate more on languages instead of sadness and depression.
It’s ok :) (I figured someone might use a translator)
Thank you! (It always has to be the nice pet that goes first.) Now I am stuck with a possessed parakeet that bites me every time I touch it XD
:3 I used Google Translate XD Well I didn't know what "parakeets" were in English, let alone Spanish [though that wasn't the only word I didn't know so I can't use that as an excuse!] ;p
Sorry for your loss Andres! It must've been kinda scary for the other parakeet that survived, don't you think? :o I've never had a pet to know what you felt, but I'm sure you must've like that bird :'( I'm sure if you saw my uncle's house you'd love it! he's got loads of birds [when I say loads, I mean LOADS] of birds including parrots and canaries [I don't know half the types so you never know, he might have a parakeet too!]. Well anyways he used to have everything as pets cus he really loved animals. When he was smaller, he used to catch snakes and tie them to a leash and walk around the streets! All the kids used to run away LOL XD Don't ask me why he did that, but he also kept a scorpion as a pet too! Weirdo! ;D
Wow, It sounds like he has a lot of birds! I love birds because of their bright colors, but they are very dirty creatures. I honestly don’t know if I will get another one after this one I have dies.
Your uncles used to handle snakes and scorpions?! I couldn’t do that!!!
Well they are cleaner than dogs and cats for sure! [though my uncle also had 3 dogs but he always kept them outside to guard his sheep]
Neither could I XD Though I'm surely capable of handling snakes over spiders 100% Snakes - as long as I know they're not poisonous I can hold them, but Spiders... Never will I ever handle a 1mm spider! Too many legs and the way they twitch makes me feel like I want to puke X(
You must be kidding! Cats run around outside pooping wherever they go! Whereas the bird would be in a cage ;p
Konnichiwa! How's today gone? :)
Does the word word for plane'طائرة' come from the word for bird 'طائر'?
Yep! Why are you so clever? I think it must be inherited since you don't study XD
My day was going calm until I got given my exam timetable =_= 2 exams everyday [SsIiGgHh!!] So much to revise for! WwhHyY? ...well at least my case is better than some peoples' - My friend does Art and Photography and has two days of Art and two days of Photography including the subjects that are compulsory XD that's 5h of exam for 4 whole days!
These are your mocks right? That's sad tho. All those hours wasted on exams you probably aren't gonna remember in like 10 years. But you're gonna do great. ^-^
ps. I'm not clever. It's just cause ummmmmmmmm............. I actually don't know.
XD I don't even know that word in Arabic let alone English! What does it mean? :D it sounds like a disease but I think that was a different word ;p
نوع من العصافير، يشتهر بجماله وحسن صوته :) لم أجد ترجمته في جوجل لذا سألتك ^_^
Ohhh I feel like I've heard of it before! Thanks! Wait I'll try to look it up... Wwaaaiiitt....
Found it! It's called a Goldfinch ;p I think they're quite common in Algeria because when I searched it up, at least 10 videos were in Algeria ;)
Is a gold finch and a yellow finch the same thing? We have a lot of Yellow Finches in North Carolina.
Umm I think they're the same! Only the American Goldfinches are yellow so they're often called Yellow Goldfinches. I think we have Goldfinches in the UK too only they're not yellow like the ones in America :)
