Why am I learning Chinese?

I am learning the Mandarin Chinese language for several different reasons.

One reason is because I legitamitely adore the language, and all of it's unique characters in an alphabet-dominant world. The second reason is that I love learning languages in general. It is a special linterest to me. It calms me down when I am stressed. The third reason is because I want to spread autism acceptance in China. Autism acceptance is mostly found in the West. I feel like it should spread. It cannot spread if no one does anything other than be an activist on the internet.

P.S. Please don't spoil me with lingots. They are very nice but ultimately useless.

Thank you

One reason I study Chinese is I like Legos. You can build and deconstruct words like Legos and if you have fun in studying languages, you will go far.

I find that Sanskrit is more what you are describing you can combine base letter to form more complex letters Chinese I find sometimes the radicals mean something often however its meaningless and just memorization.

That's really cool! I have ADHD and although it's different from autism they have similarities especially with the "special interest" part; my special interest is learning languages as well! Japanese and Mandarin chinese are especially interesting to me since they are so different from western languages. Wishing you the best on your Chinese learning journey!

This is probably the best reason I've come across why anyone is learning a language. Of course, learning languages to connect with people is fantastic, but this will do that and more. Love it!

Just started Chinese. Got through the first few skill sets still wondering why and how. The symbols are hard to memorize. Got through the numbers pretty easily. Knowing Japanese gave a lot of help there. Did start Korean but the skill sets are much too dry. Do like the Chinese and the challenge. Wishing you luck with yours.

i think it is nice that you think autism acceptance should be spread around the world but here is the main question. why can't people just accept each other as a same human being with a little differentiality involved? we are all the same it is just that people focus on the small parts that make all of us different and then act upon it in either positive or negative ways.

In a classroom setting you cannot treat every student as the same; some need extra assistance or special programs in order to understand the material

Ideally though, you still can treat every student the same because you would just as willingly give that assistance to someone else.

I love how you want to spread awareness and acceptance! I taught in China for three years and one of my student's was definitely on the spectrum; there were no special programs or ways to integrate the student :(

"It cannot spread if no one does anything other than be an activist on the internet."

A line from Yeats seems particularly apt here: "The best lack all conviction, while the worst Are full of passionate intensity."

Your post is inspiring.
