"Woot" significa que has logrado algo y ahora estás feliz. Viene desde videojuegos en linea.

I would prefer if Duolingo stopped using "Woot." It seems out of step during a language lesson to encounter a message of congratulations in slang!

I think many people, especially young people, just like the sound of the word. I agree with Almonaster about the meaning...triumph, celebration or support, for sure.

See several explanations here: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=woot . (Note that "an truncated expression" should be "a truncated expression.") I'd never heard it before visiting this site and thought it was an attempt to sound like a short alarm siren.
