Duolingo strengthens relationships
I am a second generation immigrant (I live in America) and I've grown up talking in French at home. Lately though, I've been losing some of it; talking in English at school and French at home is a hard transition and affects my French. I am using Duolingo to "polish" my French and has been helping a lot with my grammar. I've also fixed many of the mistakes I've done when speaking French. I use the correct phrases that I learned while talking to my parents and they're really impressed. It makes me feel more comfortable talking in French and not mixing it up with English. I also told my friend about this and convinced her to learn French with me. It's been really encouraging and she's always asking me how to say horse or dog. I'm so happy we're doing it together and I'm even thinking of learning her language which is Japanese.
Bonne journée! Emily
That's so cool! Good luck with French! I'm learning too, but I'm a beginner.
J'en suis impatiente (I can't wait)! Hehe, I used google translate. I'm not back to my fluency yet. Anyways, I look forward to having three friends to support while using Duolingo!
That's still amazing! Yes! I am glad you friended me! Best wishes, - Shara
Hi, I was just reading your background thing on your profile and I just needed to say that I also LOVE Hamilton and reading. And I love learning too. Sorry for such a random comment. Couldn't find another way to tell you.
Also, that is why my user name is part lafayette. Hamilton is just great!
Oh my god! Thanks! You must be rich! I know it's not much but I'm gonna give you 20
C'est vraiment bien ! Tu as raison ! Bonne chance avec tes françaises !
That's really cool! It's awesome that Duolingo is helping you to keep that part of your heritage and that you can share that with your friend! Bonne chance avec votre francais!
I am also a beginner. Could you tell me which version is correct: - une chambre non-fumeure - une chambre non-fumeuse
C'est une chambre non-fumeur (no smoking) because it's not the room that is smoking, it's the people that can't smoke in the room. Non fumeuse is non-smoking which is different from no smoking. Désolé pour la réponse tardive. Bonne chance et bonne journée! Emily
Thank you Emily for answer. They are some nuances in foreign languages which don't exist in mine. Now I will remember. My room also doesn't smoke. Like me! Have a great vacations. The summer has officially started! Noomi
I love that! I unfortunately don't have anyone fluent to practice with me on the daily, my sister took French in HS, but I think I may have surpassed her now. Glad you've got some good motivators!!
