Kamu LUCU SEKALI=you are so funny

How does lucu sekali translate to so funny? Can anyone explain the logic behind this terminology? I get that it's an Indonesian way of saying so funny but some linguistic cultural insight would help remember the term better.

  • "So" is often translated as "sekali". This house is so big = Rumah ini besar sekali.

  • Lucu = funny. This is a common translation. I'm not sure what linguistic cultural insight you're looking for.

Sekali can mean Very but So works too. Se is satu Kali is multiple or times, some how it has come to mean greater instead of one time though it can still mean one time just depends on use.
