I've had my first conversation in French
dude it felt so good that i could type with the guy. we were playing a strategy game called warlight and france was mentioned. because i really like the french language, i started typing in french and some dude followed me and we started to discuss the syntax of different languages. fortunately, i only had to use the present tense because i'm still only a lvl 10 and so i don't know anything about other tenses (a bit of the present perfect, kinda) but that's it.
the one thing i can tell you is that it feels so good. if you're thinking about giving up, like me, because you've to do some lesson 10 times over and over bcuz you dont memorize the vocabulary, trust me, you're giving up on climbing the mountain that is to learn a new language. i'm not even at the top but this conversation was like a break during the journey, like i stopped climbing and looked to the horizon for a moment and said to myself "damn, nice view from up here."
thank you very much duolingo staff and keep studying boys!!!
Excellent! Bravo And in English: keep on, keeping on ;)
Elle est attendre ( She is reaching / she is arriving at ) should be Elle va à ( she goes to/she is going to ) .. l'ecole francophone. Regardez-moi ! J'ai su presque à nul l'an dernier.
Keep it up! As an older learner with little success with languages in school I never though I had the aptitude for learning languages, turns out I just needed the right attitude for learning languages.
I agree, attendre being the verb to wait in French. Put in that way is a mistake.
Congrats man, really good work! I'd also like to thank you for the uplifting message, it really helped remind me why I've been slogging away on here. So, good job and keep going!
Merveilleux!
I am nothing but a mere level 2 at the moment, but it's great to hear such words of encouragement!! Tu est très, très bien:)
Just take it slow, one day at a time, and only move on when you feel you "own" what you have learned... You'll start speaking it before you know it.
That's really cool! My work colleague speaks French and Italian, and when i told her i am learning french she started talking to me in french, i could understand almost everything, and i was able to talk to her thanks to duolingo! =D
