HILARIOUS video about French numbers!
Funny! Makes you wonder though, why France and French Canada do not use septante, huitante and nonante like they do in French Switzerland and Belgium. It makes so much more sense and is easier.
Belgium is not even more coherent than France and Canada since they use 'septante' and 'nonante' but not 'huitante'! Only in Switzerland they really are coherent since they use all three of them. I've also heard that in some regions they use the more archaic 'octante' instead of 'huitante' (which remains coherent anyway).
Yeah! french numbers are messed up. German has it a bit easier, except they adore sticking everything to a single word, so twenty-one = zweiundzwanzig which is zwei-und-zwanzig which is two-and-twenty
The video was great, however I had the feeling he's not from NY. He sounded a bit Scottish to me. What do you think?
Sounds super New York to me but I'm British so it's hard to tell American accents but definitely not Scottish.
He's from Canada. He can speak conversational French and could count in French before the video was shot. It's all a comedy bit.
