There are 20 new EASY french stories.

These new stories are numbered as set 1 and 2. The previous sets have been renumbered accordingly.

These stories are very simple and have questions that aren’t in the target language. For example if you are learning french the questions are in English.

I personally really like how they added the smaller, simpler stories. It really makes me feel accomplished when I can follow along. The other versions were great too, it just took longer to digest them. Really nice addition and gradient!

I felt overwhelmed by previous stories (now third set) because I couldn't keep up with it. Now I can and I enjoy it :)

There are no Tiny Cards exercises for these new basic stories yet. I hope they write some and I also hope that the Tiny Cards links are brought back. For some reason they disappeared a few weeks ago and I have had to make a link on my browser that links to the sets. I have to scroll through the sets to find the right cards that match the story that I just completed.

It's a rush of extra points then... But also very useful for beginners.

I'm glad they did this instead of making the first two sets easier - they had been translating the questions to English and taking out entire lines that were too complicated. This is a pleasant solution.

You're right. Why would they put the questions in English? It's not like there isn't dictionary hints! Personally, I'm ok with some simple ones though, because I'd like a mix of simple short ones and long complex ones.
I'm glad to see the honeymoon one there. They've always avoided that.

To make it simpler to understand. The dictionary hints are far from perfect and are often just downright odd when looked at from the perspective of someone trying to build a coherent sentence out of all the hints because they don't know any of the words nor understand the grammar used in a given sentence. Duolingo is trying to implement a graded reader approach to their stories. The earliest sets are supposed to be the easiest. This allows people who are just starting out with a language to engage with the language and practice what they have learned. Based on my own experiences with French and Spanish (both of which I started 20 days ago) the new early sets in both Spanish and French are stories that someone can enjoy before they even reach an A1 level. If the questions in the early sets were in my target languages, I'd not even bother with the stories right now. The later stories which feature more complex sentences and include questions in the target language are simply far too difficult for me currently and as such are not enjoyable.

I just submitted a bug report, but I'm wondering if anyone else is seeing what I'm seeing. I found and worked the 20 new easy stories today. Later I noticed an email prompting me to do the next story, which seemed to mean there was still new content I hadn't completed. When I checked, I found that all 20 of the stories were colorful again rather than gold, as if I hadn't completed them. Strange!

@ kingjigo313 Where, in which link we will find the "20 new EASY french stories"?

    June 29, 2019

https://stories.duolingo.com/ If you're not currently working in French, you'll need to select the flag at the top of the page to change it to the French flag. The new stories are sets one and two at the top of the page.

You have to be using a web browser rather than the app (unless there's an A/B test that puts stories in the app -- my app does not have them). On the mobile site, the buttons appear at the bottom of the page, and on the full site they are at the top. In both cases, the stories are represented by an open book, the second button from the left.

Great addition. These new stories should be very encouraging for beginners and are still a fun, quick warm-up for more advanced students.
