Celebrating a 50 day steak in Ireland!

I started learning Irish on Duo 50 days ago, and I've kept my streak the whole time! I'm learning Irish to honour my immigrant heritage and to help with my Irish dance teaching certification exam (language isn't technically a requirement, but it helps). Now I'm visiting Ireland with my aunt and uncle, and I've actually gotten to use a little Irish! I'm so, so happy. Go raibh maith agat, Duo! <3

My 50 days have been shared among six or seven languages. But I go slow but with determination inasmuch as Irish is one of my favourites.

Enjoy your travel!

Thanks! I had a really wonderful time. I took pictures of all the bilingual street signs I found so I can reference them later. It's a surprisingly useful strategy.

Keep up the good work!

Delighted that you enjoyed your stay. Have you checked out the quick reference site of Irish placenames? It gives a list of meanings and maybe would be useful to know?

Comhghairdeas! Níl sé ró éisce úsáid a baineann dod' chuid Ghaeilge in Eirinn, strange as it may seem. It's really great when you say 'Día dhuit' and the person replies 'Día is Muire dhuit!' - you know you're in for a bit of a conversation. Go n'éirí leat!

Stéig caoga lá. ;)
