Can someone clarify how the case endings work, and when to use them?

I'm having difficulty knowing when to add the -un, -in, -an etc endings. When do I use each of them? What exactly do they mean? Are they put after the noun, the adjective, or both? And why is the use of the endings so inconsistent?

Great job with the course so far by the way, I hope this information is added to the tips and notes to make it easier for future learners.

Paul from Langfocus explains it pretty well in this video:

Go to the time stamp 14:06 where he talks about cases!
