Maybe useful etymology: شنطة is a loan from Ottoman via Persian, related to Turkish çanta.

the better MSA word is حقيبة

The decision to go with شنطة instead of the MSA word حقيبة may have to do with so many dialects using شنطة. It will be interesting to see whether the next iteration of DL Arabic focuses entirely on MSA or continues to do a selective mixture with dialects.

Would this also translate to "a small bag is there"? Or is it specifically "there is a small bag"?
