Does wirklich work equally for tatsächlich here?

Sounds like the motto for a cooking show.

Yes! Probably a "reality cooking" show. With celebrities as contestants.

hides burnt food behind back Of course I can cook!

I've had too long of a day for your snarkiness, Duo.

From the link above, I'd say that this sentence should rather be translated as "Can you REALLY cook?", and not "actually"...

I would like to know the same. Can eigentlich be used the same way?

"Can you cook actually?" I do not see why this is not accepted.

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/huderon

It's not accepted because that's not a correct English sentence. "Can you actually cook?"

"Can you actually cook?"

Can this sentence be also used as an excusebfor flirting?

Hope it will not be asked by your wife/husband some day… ;)

I would translate "Can you actually cook?" as "Kannst du eigentlich kochen?" and "Can you really cook?" as "Kannst du tatsächlich (or wirklich) kochen?". "Tatsächlich" shows my doubt whether someone really can that.

Duo didn't recognize "cab" as a typoed "can", despite the fact that b and n are right next to each other on the keyboard.

Just found it quite silly that Duo apparently thinks it more likely someone would try to translate "kann[st]" as a "cab" (=taxi).

Do people get messages about changes as a result of reports? I have reported certain things in Duo dozens of times by now yet none of them seem to have been fixed. :(

I have had hundreds of suggestions approved thanks to the reports I had filed, just not in the German course but in Japanese, Dutch, French, Polish and Czech so it probably depends on the moderators/volunteers and their time. At the same time the German course is pretty well done and most of the alternative translations are already accepted.

It's a machine. It can't think. All typos are equally likely to its simple little mind.

Sort of -- the messages appear attached to the sentence and to the skill, where they will be visible to someone who happens to look inside that skill.

But since there are literally thousands of reports for each skill, and only one or two active volunteers who do this in their spare time, it takes a while to get around to all of them... months or years rather than hours or days.

Why Kochen here rather than the other two

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/mizinamo

What were the other two?

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/Andrew662949

Woo the word order is the same for this lone example

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/JefeBezos3

Ich kann nicht.

Is this sentence meant as an insult, or?

Kannst du tatsächlich kochen, oder kochst du nur Wasser?
