I thought you had to have a ka or ke before a noun like ka 'ō or ke 'ō
Numbers can replace the words ka and ke
Will DLHawaiian ever tell us how Hawaiian versions of western words (fork, volleyball etc. came about?) Just asking.....
No idea about volleyball, but for "‘ō", Hawaiian isn't using a loan word or loan translation. "‘Ō" can be used for "any piercing instrument", such as a fishing spear. The fork was probably a new thing, but they used an existing word.
