Two days ago I lost my 691 day streak. For some reason I can't find out how to repair it. I was hoping to get to 730(the two year mark) but I guess that's just not meant to be.
Loosing my streak was all my fault. No glitch from duolingo whatsoever. I had a streak freeze, but I went one day past my streak freeze, loosing myself my streak.
Of course, I'm super mad at myself. WHY DID I LOOSE THIS STREAK! For almost two years I have been keeping it up. And now it's gone.
Funny enough, I'm almost glad I lost it. The burden of a streak, especially after it gets large, can actually be hard.
I'm free from my streak!
In other words, you have experienced what I shall now give it the Songve term. the "Streak Freak Enlightenment", recognizing that after the hurt of losing a long streak, a streak only means whatever you choose it to mean. You changed your thinking that it is not really that important after all, and in so doing changed your reality, from hurt to freedom.
BTW, kudos for the Double Twenty-Five. Now that is truly meaningful.
I see other people with streaks, my sister is past 700, and I think, oh you can't break that streak, think how long it will take to get it back, but as for me, I have SFE and am cool not having a streak.
@Songve “Streak Freak Enlightenment “ - I love it! edit: PS I just figured out what “double twenty-five means.
I might be interpreting this wrong, but it sounds like the streak freeze protected you from 1 day, and then the next day you missed it. (The streak freeze only does 1 day at a time)
Again, I might be wrong. (and probably am)
If you really want it back, you might be able to get your streak back if you get the free trial of Duo Plus and use the streak repair.
Well I promise I won't think any less of you because your streak is down to ZERO!!! I am currently on day 19 and will do my best to persevere to 101 simply so my details appear on Duome together with a word list which reflects current language levels - for me 'streaking' can get obsessional - I am currently trying to resist the urge to keep my Ruby place in the league table but it's not going very well - grrrrr
Correct!!! Have a lingot, in fact have two, no have five why not? - I have now realised that Duome only provides details for the language you are currently logged into on Duo - so that's sorted that problem out and I can now happily miss days on Duo! Result!!!
This is a good mindset to have. About a year or so (630 days lol) ago I lost my streak of almost 50 days. I decided I would come back stronger. I really, really hope I make it to 730! Only 100 more days to go!
Do you even language, bro? Seriously, you are of course correct, for now...
Your reply got me thinking how we are witnessing language changes, specifically nouns becoming verbs. I agree with Benjamin Franklin terming this "verbing" (denominalization if you are linguistically inclined) awkward and abominable. "actioning" is one of my favorite ones to hate. This could make an interesting Discussion for dialoguing...
you are of course correct, for now...
Unless we see a significant shift in the English language, I suspect he'll be correct for quite a while. Anyway, this isn't a case of verbing. Because it was a typo, not intentional I'm pretty sure. Also, that would be like reverse verbing. Because lose is a verb, and loose is an adjective.
Although that is an interesting topic, nonetheless.
I mean, literally is in the dictionary as meaning both "truly" and "figuratively" so, idk lol
And he seems pretty content losing his streak.
I understand; however, there was a similar post not too long ago where the forum member with a long lost streak seemed content as well. Once he/she learned a streak repair was possible, they took advantage of it. In my opinion, it doesn't hurt to provide someone all their options and let them decide what they want.
Y pensar que yo me sentí igual cuando perdí mi entrenamiento de solo 60 días. Ahora volví y espero llegar a los 100.
Gracias por compartir su experiencia y que disfrute su libertad.
