Discussing Useless Languages in Duolingo

I think we have way too many useless languages in this app. I'm talking about Klingon and High Valkaryian etc.

These languages will never be used in real life.

I don't think it really matters though, as long as you have major languages as well, but they have literally just got Arabic into Duolingo, the fifth most spoken language in the world.

We also don't have Malaysian (6th most spoken) and Bengali (8th most spoken).

But we get Duolingo coming and telling us they are teaching us Hawaiian for 'culture' when we can't even learn about a culture shared in multiple continents until now (Africa and Asia).

I understand that the community makes the website and all that, but Duolingo should have hired someone to make at least the ten most major languages in the world, with all the money they have.

Anyway, what do you think. Tell me if I'm wrong! ☺

Hi,

you have not chosen the right forum to discuss this.

This sub forum "Educators" is reserved for staff, teachers and discussions about their Duolingo school classroom product.

Hi, as Thomas.Heiss has mentioned, this is the Educators forum, for teachers who use the "Duolingo for Schools" software. Could you please edit your original post and use the drop-down list at top left to change the topic from "Educators" to "Duolingo"? That way it won't clutter up the Educators forum, and your post will be seen by other people interested in discussing ways to use and improve Duolingo.

No language is useless! Even conlangs can be used to extend one’s understanding of the linguistics involved and how languages are constructed.
