Saying "my grandfather in my house" is incorrect? What is the reason?

It's "my grandfather IS in my house", a complete sentence

Nemerah,

It should be accepted. جدي في بيتي can be meant as both, whether it is (1) "my grandfather is in my house" or (2) "my grandfather in my house".

Or, ... in Duolingo, we can see there is "." (full stop/period) at the end of the statement as the sign that the statement is a sentence. Whilst, there is no "." if the statement is a phrase.

Its confusing with this: A grandfather in my house.. How in arabic say this?

جدٌّ في بيتي Because A grandfather is indefinite so you don't use ال or the possessive form

Pissed off that I keep getting corrected for 'at' and/or 'in'. Is one 'at' university or 'in' university? Answers here seem totally random, sometimes 'in' gets corrected and sometimes 'at'. Grrrrrrr
