Genuine question: is there a difference (idiomatically rather than grammatically, I guess) between "travelling is a wonderful thing" and "travelling is wonderful"?

yes, and both are marked correct. The diiference is in the extra 'a' above the alif of Al-yemen. I have no idea why.
